ok,i am having trouble opening an account to the uscis site,i keep hearing this system doesn't work....is this true?

It is not a reliable source of information on your specific case. Just keep trying to open an account -- follow the directions closely. But don't try to rely on it thereafter.

that is soo true...our on-line status still reads "received and pending" when in fact it was approved 2 weeks ago...

It has been working for me - updated every time they did something.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I just checked my status online-- still case pending!!!! last touched 2/24. But 3/25 I received the NOA 2 in the mail already!

I guess they don't update their status online that frequently!

Timeline:

2/18/2009: Mailed I-129F Form

2/20/2009: NOA 1 Receipt Date

3/20/2009: NOA 2 Notice Approval Date

05/28/2009: Interview APPROVED

7/22/2009 --POE (LAX)-- We are together forever <3

AOS Journey Begins Here ^------^

7/28/2009 -- Applied for SSN & Registered for Marriage License

8/3/2009 -- Civil Ceremony

8/5/2009 -- Received Marriage Certificate via Express Mail. Pass DMV Written Exam & Received Permit

08/11/2009-- Mailed AOS to Chicago, IL

08/17/2009 -- Check clears $1010 USCIS

8/20/2009- Touched ^---^

8/21/2009-- NOA 1 for I-485 and I-765 Hard Copy

08/29/2009-- Received Biometrics Appointment Letter in the mail, dated 08/26

09/03/2009 -- Early Walk In Biometrics Appt (Original Date 09/23)

09/04/2009 -- Touched ^---^

09/29/2009 -- EAD Card Production

10/07/2009 -- EAD Card Received

10/16/2009 AOS I-485 Interview in Los Angeles(APPROVED)

For me it was just a source of discouragement. They never updated it. I got my NOA1 dated July 23 and they set up my account on July 29. I got approved on Feb 27th but my last update still says July 29 and it still says "case received and pending". I got a letter in the mail and no email.

Checking that uscis website every day and seeing last update July 29, for 7 months was quite torturous! So, dont be too concerned with that.

My case still doesn't show up after almost a month, same with another of the March filers. Sometimes you get lucky and they update every time something happens, other times you can make your account and track it, but they dont put in the big updates (you see a touch then get the letter in the mail but no update) or you see no updates. Or, you get a message that says your case number is wrong and it can't be tracked. If you got your NOA1 in the mail I wouldnt worry, because its not unheard of that certain cases cant be tracked until they are approved. As long as you have the paper with the number on it you should be fine.

yes it is true....they don't update their site promptly. i tried to check my status online for my AOS but it didn't work. i called USCIS and they said there's a problem on their site...so better to call them and ask about your status.

Sept. 09, 2008 Consulate received
Sept. 16, 2008 Appointment notice received
Sept. 23, 2008 Filed Jap. police clearance
Sept. 24-25, 2008 Medical exam Done. Thank God I'm healthy
Oct. 03, 2008 Interview date
Nov. 11, 2008 Got a call from Jap. Embassy PC ready for pick up
Nov. 13, 2008 Picked up and submitted the Police clearance to USEM
