Hi,

I have received my AOS interview date, which is scheduled for Aug 1 in Los Angeles. The problem is we are moving from L.A. to Texas next week.

I called the customer service line and they told me to write to the L.A. office and give them our new address. The post office are still trying to deliver the letter a week after I sent it.

Has anyone got any experience of moving to another part of the U.S. with an interview date pending? I am sending the AR-11 change of address form to the Kentucky address.

What else can I do? I need to ensure my case is transferred so I can get an interview at the Dallas office.

I'm a little concerned because the interview letter says I will be denied if I don't attend.

Anyone had a similar experience of moving while still being processed?

Thanks!

If you already have an interview date, I would just travel from Dallas to LA to attend the interview. I know it will be an expense but if your case gets lost in the system due to transfering it from one office to then next then you will be forced to spend a lot of money on lawyers, contacting congressman, etc. I really think that you should fly back to CA and avoid all hassle with CIS. Just make sure to put change of address so that your green card gets delivered to the right place.

12/31/05 Mailed AOS/EAD/AP to Chicago Lockbox

01/13/06 NOA processed

01/16/06 Recieved NOAs in the mailbox

02/16/06 AP approved

02/25/06 Recieved AP papers in the mailbox

04/07/06 Went to Hartford CIS office to obtain EAD b/c no biometrics letter came within the 90 days, recieved the card on spot after biometrics

04/07/06 Applied for SSN

04/18/06 Received SSN in the mail

I would advice exactly the same thing. If it is possible come back to LA for an interview.

I am in similar situation, except that I moved alone now, my husband will join me later, and I am gonna fly back for an interview. I think that rescheduling interview can make a lot of mess.

Good luck

We moved from Des Moines to Phoenix after my wife had her interview date set and we'll see what happens. I called the customer hotline, mailed in the AR-11 and also mailed a letter stating that we wouldn't be able to attend the interview in Des Moines because we moved. It also went along with the copy of the NOA for interview notice. I mailed the letter with a return receipt so I could make sure it got there and who signed for the letter, to try to cover my rear if anything happens in the process.

Shortly thereafter, I received a letter from the USCIS saying that they made the address change.

We're praying that all goes well.

Well, we moved to Texas before my interview date. But we traveled back to Philly just for the interview, since we really don't want anything goes wrong, like losing the case in their system. It's worth of traveling. Like I mentioned earlier, I got approved and the interview officer did make sure that our address was updated in their system during the interview.

Good luck
