I was reading about my USEM details here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...amp;cty=Bangkok and was surprised to read we should get a medical exam as early as NOA1 or NOA2. Is this true? Is this how it should be done? I'm confused now. I thought we were supposed to wait for the interview schedule and instructions from the USEM??

And when it says fiance/spouse not allowed during interview, does that mean he/she can't even enter the building with the beneficiary? My husband wants to be with me during the interview or at least be near. Anyone here from Thailand?

Depending on the country, you have to have the interview letter for the medical exam. Also, the Embassy cannot deny entry into the building to a US citizen, he just won't be able to go with you to the interview itself.

In gthe Philippines you can take the medical with the NOA2 approval notice. My wife did so 1 1/2 months early. I wouldn't be surprised you could even use the NOA1 receipt notice to get in!!! I've never seen anyone try. GOOD move to take the medical ASAP in case something pops up.

Better yet people should do a private pre med 6 months before the approximate interview. If something like TB is discovered thay can be cured in 6 months and not be delayed going to the US.

I had my wife a stepdaughter do so and my stepdaughter tested positive for PC [primary complex][Pre TB] and was treated and cured before her immigration medical.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

I don't know i-130, i came to thailand to assit my fiancee for K-1 visa. With k-1 after you complete packet 3 and send back to embassy, you wait for packet 4 to come with, hopefully, interview date and medical forms, you than go to the hospital listed and do the medical exam in about 3 hours. we had about 2 weeks before our interview to get the medical exam...more than enough time. i was not able to enter the building the morning of the interview...waited out on the street...hope that helps..good luck..

Doing a medical too early is just as bad as doing it too late. For example the medical in the Philippines is good for only 3 months. so getting it after a NOA-1 doing a CR-1 visa would not be wise. As far as a K type visa once the NOA2 is received that is a good time to consider getting the medical out of the way. For a CR-1/IR-1 visa, after case is complete at NVC is a good time to do it as well. Most Embassies suggest getting it down at least 2 weeks before the scheduled interview date. Hopefully that gives you a better window. BTW Good luck on your case ao_cons

Thank you everyone! I called the approved facility and they said a request from the USEM is required. So I have no choice but to wait anyway. Praying for the best! We're so close!

MMW, am glad to see you here. Was wondering how you and your spouse are doing. Will be thinking and praying for you on the day of your interview. Hope we can all stick around VJ even after our journeys are done to stay in touch and help others too. :)

The medical result is good for six months, that is what the embassy told me. If your case get completed and you are waiting for the interview date for awhile, you can take medical exam but if you want to wait until you finally knows the interview date, that is also fine too since the medical will take only one day to be done at Bumrungrad Hospital. That was how I did it, i made the appointment pretty early and got done around 9.30 am.

About the ur husband wants to be there for you at the interview, he can show his passport to them and said that he is coming for the American Citizen service, that is how most people do it. The American Citizen Service and the Interviewing area is in the same building (if nothing has changed from last time that i went about June 2008). He will be able to get in but not sure about having the interview with you but for sure he can be there waiting for u.
