Possibly the worst case of Murphy's Law...

My wife has just today lost her passport, either it got lost or was stolen, and her interview is on Monday morning at 8 AM.

I know the Immigrant Visa Unit can usually grant a conditional visa, but how can she get into the Embassy as this is her only piece of ID?

Anyone ever encountered this situation?

Any recommendations?

a visa is affixed to a passport... without a passport I don't know how they would issue a visa, or allow someone to travel internationally without a passport.

Good luck!

YMMV

Firstly if you think that it has been stolen I would report it to the police and get a crime number for the case

Also contact the passport office to report it this might help http://www.ips.gov.uk/passport/lost.asp

I would take to the Embassy any photo id you have, drivers license, police report etc

You might get away with approval pending passport, production, I wish you luck

Your best bet is to go to the interview with as many photo ID's and photocopy of the passport (if you have a copy). Explain to them what happened and hope they will accept to interview without a passport. Later call UK Passport office on 0300 222 0000 (operates 24 hours a day) to make an appointment to get a new passport. I believe the fastest you will be able to get a replacement passport is in one week.

PS. why did u say the passport was lost or stolen? maybe it got misplaced in the moving?

Good luck mate!

Through a stroke of good luck, the passport was found just in the nick of time.

Disaster averted... for now.
