Now looking at the time lines of all here I have to apologise. But at the same time I am so down. If only they hadn't said approved pending the police certificate, it would still have been tough, but we wouldn't have booked plane tickets or packed everything up, or booked a ceremony, long since past, now however at this very moment I am really worried.

The USE London said 2 weeks, its been over 3 already and that doesn't include the time prior to that. For my interview was Feb 13.

They currently have my passport has any one advice as to how long they will keep it before sending it back?

The reason I ask is I don't currently have a job, and I need to get one if this goes on much longer. Cause I am an Aussie living in the UK I need my passport to prove my validity to work.

If I request it back will it delay the process? Is there any possibility it will help? Do they ever forget, or does your case get lost?

Any suggestions I'm drowning at the moment and as result pulling John with me.

How long has it been since you submitted the new police certificate?

5 weeks

Actually 4 and a bit, courier took a week to deliver it to the USE.

The embassy and consulate love to quote "2 weeks" to everything. Just hold tight for a bit--don't get too antsy. The fact that they kept your passport, rather than tell you, we will ask you for it when we need it seems like a positive thing, rather than negative. You can always call the embassy to see what is going on, but I wouldn't think about asking for the passport back and getting a job quite yet, unless you know for sure it will take a long time.
