Would it be immoral to reboot it?

Depends if it made a backup of it's "sentience"...

Or if the computer looked like Caprica 6.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

what is sentience?

Sentience is the ability to feel or perceive subjectively

Rebooting is to (sentient) PC what a nap is to human... so, yes.. naps are good...

as long as it's in the Rom and not the Ram.... :hehe:

Rebooting is to (sentient) PC what a nap is to human... so, yes.. naps are good...

But you take a nap yourself. No one makes you take a nap.

If I reboot my sentient computer, then I'm making it take a nap. And knowing what we know about computers, sometimes computers don't come back from a reboot.

So should I still reboot a sentient computer or let it reboot itself when it's ready (or out of memory)?

But you do (would) make a child take a nap - there was no clarification that this would be an adult/mature sentient pc...

so it's like the computer develops feelings?

yes, to be sentient is to be alive

Rebooting is to (sentient) PC what a nap is to human... so, yes.. naps are good...

Good point. Sentient beings 'learn' from their surroundings and the longer they learn, the more 'mature' they get. So while a new PC (just manufactured) may be rebooted, questions remain about doing the same to an older PC. What's interesting, of course, is that older PCs need rebooting much more often.
