I am originally from Nebraska so I can feel her pain. Mohammed is begging me to move back to Nebraska because he wants to live there. The man is just silly. I've worried about how he will adjust too. He's always been insulted for "being too American" where he lives, but I still worry. He's so easy going and so open minded, but I know how it shook me when I moved to Egypt. It is HARD to adjust to all the differences. We do have a few mosques here in town, and I'm hoping that will help, but I know Mohammed. It's going to be hard for him for awhile. I try to discuss this with him, but he poo-poos it. Pfft.

I went for my usual walk. It was pleasant. Again I want to apologize to our little family here about my lost temper in another thread. I feel maybe a bit too protective of our bunch and I think I need to shut up sometimes. Anyway, I will watch that in the future.

Hope you all are having a good day.

I guess I'm fortunate in that I live in the Metro Detroit area and we have a HUGE Arab community here. Not as many Egyptians as in NY or NJ but plenty of Arabs from all over the Mid East. Inshallah that will help Mohamed adjust to being in the states. He met a man last week whose cousin lives in the Detroit area so that made him very happy! It gives him hope. Mohamed has distant relatives in NJ so he talks about moving there. I told him to get here first and see inshallah.

I'm so happy it's Thursday! One more day and it's the weekend! I have a wedding rehearsal/dinner tomorrow evening and Saturday will be a bridesmaid in my friend, Jen's wedding. Then next Saturday I'll be leaving for Egypt for 2.5 weeks inshallah. Woo hooooooooooo :dance::dance:

I'm boring...and bored...what to eat for lunch...

ran this morning again. I'm going to die on Saturday for my 5k. If I manage to run it without walking, my time is still going to be the slowest ever. dur. walkers are going to pass me.

I think Tamer does ok here. He's made friends at the masjid, volunteering and in english class with muslims from just about every country but Egypt. He keeps himself from getting too cut off by listening to arabic lectures online and streaming al Jazeera. We're going to make a concerted effort to get reconnected with the muslim community here. We did great through Ramadan, because there's always stuff planned, but after that, it kinda tappers off. I'm hoping to reconnect myself too, and mkae it to a jummah prayer at a nearby hospital tomorrow inshaAllah.

Hi everyone! So we're here, just vegging for a little while this afternoon then heading down to my moms. Today is her birthday and she has been having a lot of health problems lately. I'm making a BIG dinner - homemade spinich/cheese raviolis. crusted pesto tuna, spinch salad with blood oranges and rasberry vinegarette dressing. Youssef will probably hate it but I know everyone else will love it. For her cake we got bread pudding. It's her FAVORITE dessert and I know she'll love it. I'm really looking forward to spending a nice evening with the family. No immigration updates - just hanging in. I got an e-mail yesterday about the phone interview I had, they wanted me to come to Chicago this Sunday for the in-person interview. But I just don't see how it would be possible for me to make the trip on such short notice (like a 6-7) hr drive for a 2pm Sunday interview. Not to mention I don't really have the extra $$ to make such a big trip that would have to include an overnight. Oh well....I'll wait for the next interview session.

Thanks so much. It means a lot. I think folks are sick of my drama. I know I am. I still have not found a job and its kind of chewing a hole in me. I'm all pms'y so I'm giving myself until Monday to get over the "yuckies" and junk that's due, and then I have a battle plan in place beginning Monday. I'm taking no prisoners and am going to hit it hard.

I went to the mall today and spent a whopping $2 at Bath and Body and walked around because it was cooler. (Sorry I absolutely cannot walk past that store without going in... and if I go in, I come out with something.) Henceforth, note to self, don't go walking at the mall until job is found. I went into several shops and asked if anyone had any openings. I'd prefer clerical but I'm getting desperate. Anyway, we'll see what next week brings.
