Hello Fellow VJ members,

On LingChe's shortcut guide, they mention there are two types of NVC processing: Standard & Appointment Post. I originally thought Chennai, India is Appointment Post type since Bombay is that way too. But when I tried to find US Embassy/Consulate-specific information on this site (http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3830.html), I could not locate MDR or Chennai. I am guessing all the cities in country would have same type of processing but I'd like to know for sure from people who knows this things bit more than I do.

Thanks for your help!!!

It is appointment post. NVC site hasn't updated yet. I see Bombay being updated now, but when I was going through my visa process, Bombay wasn't updated yet Bombay was appointed post.

The best way to verify anything is emailing Chennai consulate's IV department, they are very efficient and you will get your answer hopefully from the horses mouth.

Best of luck (F)

Thanks trinket :D I think I am going to be blacklisted on Chennai consulate's IV department email system. I've been sending them too many emails lately. Maybe I'll ask my husband to send email this time ;)

Do we need to send the originals of marriage certificate, birth certificate etc. to NVC? I know that we need to send these for Appointment Post processing. If Chennai is standard processing, do we need to send originals?
