we pay 30 bucks a month for Vonage and that includes all the features, call waiting, voice messaging, call forwarding, call display etc...

Bottom line is whichever works best will have to be the ultimate choice. So far, my MJ was never a pain in the a*s and I would keep using it. COns - you need a reliable broadband or DSL connection. Again, I am a very satisfied customer and so far I will not trade it for anything else.

I agree with you in that. I guess those people who prefers to see the person they are talking to prefers YM Messenger and for people who prefers to pay minimal amount and are satisfied with MJ's service uses MJ and for those people who has parents like me uses Vonage  i love my parents though :P

I have parents like you so may I know how much do you pay for Vonage? You parents are in PI, right?

Yes they are in PI. Marilyn is right, their monthly fee is $24.99 (including all their features) + taxes = $30 to $31 (monthly total)

Is there Vonage available in PI or I need to buy it here and send it to PI. That's cheaper than our monthly phone bill. I call my parents every other day and if i use MJ, i dont know how are they gonna install the driver in the PC, so i guess i'd prefer Vonage.

No, there is no Vonage in Pinas. You have to order it here in the US and buy that Vonage box. I think we paid $70 just for that box. When we received that box, we called the customer rep of Vonage and they helped us to set it up, After the set up , we sent it to Pinas. Don't forget to inform them that you'll send it to Pinas because they will ask for some code located at the back of the box. We only paid $9.99 + taxes on the first 3 months of their service then $31 (including all the taxes) after the first 3 months. Btw, the customer reps of Vonage are Pinoys :)

But we don't necessarily need to use Vonage here in the US, right?

Can my parents from the Philippines call me here in the US using Vonage?

Yep, I know they're Pinoys? I used to work for Linksys as a tech rep too and some of my friends for Vonage, ATT, Comcast, etc.

yes they can call you. I have a vonage phone here in the Phils. and i have same area code with my husband thats why its just like a local call, my husband called from his line or cell.....he doesn't need a vonage to call me

Why not just send a Sims Card from PI to USA and put in your cell phone.

We have Metro PCS in Dallas, and can send free and unlimited text to PI with our plan. I have unlimited calls/text/Internet Connection on my cell phone and it runs $45 per month.

I have another unlocked cell phone with a PI sims card that recieves unlimited text from PI for free, Sims card cost 150 pesos in PI.....
