How soon do you get K3 interview date ?

From some of the timelines here I thought the K3 interview date was generated pretty quickly after the embassy/consulate gets the case from NVC. Some even suggested that the NVC told them their interview date. In my case almost 2 weeks after my I-129F was approved the case has made it to the consulate in Chennai but when I contacted them they asked me to contact them after 2 more weeks. Is that normal ? How quickly did you get your K3 interview date ? I know Sarita got hers just yesterday (a whole month after her approval !). Sorry if I sound insensitive to the people who got stuck for a lot longer due to NVC problems or AP but now that we can see some light at the end of the tunnel, we are getting really anxious to get out of the tunnel.

In order to get interview date you first must submit packet 3 documents, once consulate receive it then they will assign interview date. In my case it took them about 2 weeks from the time they got my file from NVC.

Another VJ member received her K-3 interview date the same day via Email.

As I understand it, Chennai does not use packet 3. They send the packet 4 straight-away with an interview date. I am not sure this is a good idea because they will be wasting interview slots by assigning them to people who choose to go for CR-1/IR-1 (unless of course these people have their cases completed at NVC and Chennai honors a request to flip interview dates).

However I think the problem is that they assign interview dates in the second week of each month for the following month. The April slots are all taken and we have to wait until mid-April for them to assign May interview dates. It is likely that if your case makes it to Chennai in early-mid month your interview date could be assigned right away.

I didn't know that either, how weird that Mumbai and Chennai are processing K-3 cases differently.
