You can get SSN even if you dont have your AOS yet.

Possibly. A K-1 can get an SSN without a green card or EAD only if they have a valid I-94 with a certain number of days left on it. After that cut off point, you'll need an EAD to get a social security number.

I can't recall for certain but I think you need at least two weeks left on the I-94 (i.e. on/before your 75th day in the country) or the SSA won't issue one.

Adjustment of Status from K-1 (Very abridged version)

05/20/08 - POE: Chicago O'Hare

07/18/08 - Married

08/30/08 - I-485/I-765 mailed...

03/17/09 - Card production ordered (no notification received!)

03/26/09 - Green card received (196 days)

Removal of Conditions

02/15/11 - I-751 mailed to VSC...

02/22/11 - NOA1 (received 03/03/11)

04/04/11 - Biometrics appt (notice received 03/19/11)

08/22/11 - * * * t u m b l e w e e d s * * * (T+6 months and counting)

09/20/11 - Service Request #1

10/26/11 - Service Request #2

11/29/11 - Interview @ Atlanta Field Office - Approved & I-551 stamped

12/07/11 - Card production ordered

12/10/11 - Green card received (293 days)

what are the possible requirements that they may asked from me in getting a SSN? and On the application form for SSCard should I check the box saying "Legal Alien allowed to work" since I am not US Citizen.

Just bring ur passport and your marriage contract. The SSn they will give you is not authorizing you to work unless u have ur EAD or green card. But after you get your GC you can go back to their office and have your permanent SSN . You dont need EAD once you are issued a GC.Check on their website you can find the info.

I am wondering where I can find my Alien number. Is this the A# on my passport visa?

It will be on the Visa - and on the NOA2/Approval document as well as several other places.
