Hello all:

My wife and I just returned from our AOS interview. Everything went well! We were interviewed by a very kind young woman that put us at ease.

We showed up with 2 large binders of evidence;

The appointment was for 2:30 but it actually began at 2:47.

After being sworn in she asked for:

ID: Passport ( she removed the I 94) EAD and advanced parole documents.

She double checked my wifes DOB, her place of birth and here former addresses and parents biographical information.

She checked the marriage certificate and said it was good we were married within the time limit.

She then asked the standard questions about being a communist, arrests etc. She aslo asked if my wife belonged to any organizatons.

I don't think she asked for joint bank account's but we volunteered them. She looked through the one statement we had and asked to keep the checking portion of it. We also volunteered evidence of a shared credit card.

She asked how and when we met and how many times I had visited her in the 6 years we have known each other.

She asked to see any correspondance and we had pages of emails and phone call logs. While flipping through one of the large binders

she notice our pictures and studied them briefly.

She then asked what my wife had been doing since arriving. Since we only received the EAD 3 weeks ago she could not work but she is

volunteering in our local Library and taking an english course .

She basically said every thing was fine but she had to show it to her supervisor. We were told to sit in the waitng room and 5 minutes later

a gentleman came out and said congratulations. He handed us a form stating we had been Granted conditional residence. We were out the door at 3:22

I was very nervous about the whole process but my wife ( non US citizen) was supremly confident. She gave me strenght.

I just want to say "DON'T WORRY" about your upcoming interview.

Thanks to the excellet advice here at VJ. We did everything without an attorney and never received an RFE.

Congratulations!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Congratulations, Very interesting... We have our interview on the 13th of April...

I can't believe we have to go over the PAST again!!!! Questions about how we met, how many times I visited, emails, etc.... OMG will this EVER end???? They seem obsessed with going over the SAME DETAILS at every turn of the road... I hope I can ACT patient and compliant..:wacko:

The Interview notice says we're supposed to bring copies of EVERYTHING that has EVER been submitted before... I thought I would scream when I read that...

I went through this once before in 1985... at that time they focused completely on the relationship... were we living together as husband and wife... and how we met the wedding, etc. (of course we met here... he didn't come here for marriage... he was a student)

Maybe they will take one look at how freakin' old we are and just be thankful we lived long enough to get through the process THIS far.... :jest:

It's so different when you marry late in life... (each of us for the 3rd time...) no BIG wedding... none of the typical "newlywed" stuff... No one (who doesn't know our story) can't believe we haven't been married for 30 years...

Considering that he hasn't found a job yet (just got the EAD a little more than one month ago) it just seems ridiculous that they want to see our "joint" financial stuff... We opened a joint account, but he refuses to use it because he hasn't put any money in it! Good thing the transactions don't have his or my name on them...

Wonder if I should take my 21 year old son with us? The fact that he loves my husband should be ALL THE PROOF IN THE WORLD they should need... considering how 21 year old sons feel about Mom's 3rd marriage...

Should be interesting...
