My fiancé works for a federal government agency, and had to undergo security checks a few years ago when he started the job. Reading about security name checks around here, I read of a couple of people who have undergone such checks for their jobs (teachers, lawyers) and who were suspecting this delayed their petition, because the fact alone that a check had been done in the past may have caused a hit in some database. One would think that the opposite should be the case, i.e. if someone obviously passed the check (or he wouldn't have the job), he should be a no-brainer for USCIS...

Now my question is: Are there any K-1 couples here where the USC is a federal (or other) employee who has undergone security checks for their job in the past? What was/is your timeline for the visa like?

I know that no one can tell me what will happen. I am just asking for experiences of people in a comparable situation, in order to get some data regarding what we might expect.

I also know the link you posted, and in fact have been wondering about the statement there that a security check might be triggered by a "Past fingerprint record with any law enforcement agency". I am wondering if someone who has undergone a routine FBI check for employment will have such a record.

Security Checks

Nobody can tell you whether or not you'll get held up in security checks but the link above will help explain the types of checks that are done at each stage of the process.

There have been several law enforcement officials (and teachers...etc..etc) that have been through here, all kinds of people, and i've yet to see someone held up because of past security checks or their position with the government. Keep in mind we at VJ are a very small percentage of actual filers. ;)

The only issue I know of regarding this is a usc working for the government who was actually processed in record speed (normal at the time last year) but had issues at Embassy because her fiance didn't know enough about her job. Her job was actually classified and the Embassy high fraud. Very different situation.

Hopefully there wont be any issues and you'll fly through.
