Obstacles when trying to obtain drivers license

Wanted to give everyone living in Wisconsin the heads up to obtain their drivers license prior to the Green Card interview.

At the green card interview, they took my husband’s I-94 and at the Drivers Examiners Office, they have to see the original I-94. When he was given his permit for Wiscsonsin, they were suppose to use the original I-94, but the lady who we met with made the mistake of only looking at the photocopy of the I-94. So since it was her that allowed this mistake, they gave us the drivers license, but otherwise he would have to wait for the decision of the green card. Just giving everyone a heads up on what to expect if you’re trying to get a Wisconsin drivers license.

05.02.2008 - Sent AOS & EAD package to Chicago.

05.04.2008 - Package recieved in Chicago.

05.09.2008 – Received NOA's.

06.04.2008 - Biometrics appt.

07.25.08 - Work Permission Received in Mail

07.28.08 - Applied for Social Security Number

08.04.08 - Received Social Security Number in Mail

09.29.08 - Started job

01.29.09 - AOS Interview

Yes Spring is definitely on it's way. I've lived here my entire life, so winters not a big deal. Now for my husband, it was a little bigger deal - he just wore more clothes and bundled up.

That is strange. I received my drivers license before I had the GreenCard (only with EAD and SSN) and it was valid for 3 years. That was at the Hudson DMV office. Maybe it varies between the different DMV offices?

Conditional Permanent Resident since September 20, 2006

Conditions removed February 23, 2009

I am extraordinarily patient,

provided I get my own way in the end!
