Finally got around to making my hotdogs. The wieners I did get at Whole Foods- Natures Rancher uncured beef wieners. They were really good. I also picked up some of their coleslaw and made it even better.

My girl's wiener consumption increases dramatically every time I go to visit her for 3 weeks. And yes, she likes her wiener steaming hot, and extra large!

Probably more in Canada. I love hotdogs but my husband isn't a huge fan.

My fave hotdogs are steamies in Montreal- haven't had any of those in years though.

I love coleslaw on my hotdogs as well as ketchup, relish, mustard and onions.

STEAMIES!! At Lafleurs!! I only eat veggie dogs, but they taste just as good as regular I think. Dunno really as I haven't had a real hot dog since childhood. I love steamed veggie dogs with all the condiments galore!

This is a funny thread BTW!

This brings up the topic of street meat.

I was told by everyone how great NYC hot dog carts were. Now coming from Toronto, I guess my expectations were already high because when I finally did try an NYC hot dog I was very dissapointed.

The opens vendor up this door in his cart and dips his tongs into a basin of sitting water! There was hardly any of the good stuff to throw on it like pickles and onions etc etc. It was just a hot dog... a lame floppy weiner.

In Toronto the street meat is AMAZING! They grill it for you and they have tons of things there you can put on it. Best thing you can get when you're coming out of the bar all tipsy. :P

I heard Chicago is home to some good street meat too but I have yet to sample it.

I think NYC street meat is pure #######.

Amanda, Jill and I had this conversation already before but I figure I'll start it again here.

Oh yeah we did! I love how Toronto street meat vendors have veggie dog options. It's always good when you're stumbling out of the bar and craving greasy yummy food!

I have eaten a hot dog since I seen them made! I worked at a pig kill/processing plant. Between that and salami/pepperoni, I can't. They were making Salami and Pepperoni and I said to the guy that's not either, its too pink, then they dumped the buckets of blood in it.....BARF!!! Now they do make no-blood varieties. But that vision, I can't seem to get out of my head.

As a child I watched my Mom eat raw weiners directly from the freezer. :dead: .....I'm sure that is why I have been a vegetarian my entire adult life.....tofu weiners are nasty, so no, I do not eat weiners.

Have you tried Yves Veggie brand!? I find those delicious.

Speaking of parents eating raw weiners my entire family does that from my parents to my kids. They even peel the skin off first then eat the weiner. I only liked them cooked. But down here I dont think any of the kids like em raw one of my boys wont eat em if their left overs he says they dont reheat right. And most brands are gross if they are boiled.
