A 7-month-old baby boy left overnight inside the family car in North Texas was found dead on Wednesday morning, Cedar Hill police said.

The child was left in his car seat after his mother picked up her three children from day care, MyFOXDFW.com reported.

Laheather Wilson, 35, told police she went outside before 6 a.m. Wednesday and found her son unresponsive. Wilson was charged with injury to a child and was being held at the Dallas County Jail Wednesday night. It was not immediately known whether she had an attorney.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner has not released a cause of death.

The overnight low recorded at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was 50 degrees.

Wilson's two other sons are now in the care of Child Protective Services.

I wonder if she forgot about him or what?

Another question (also unanswered) was if she was sober when she picked up her children, or later when she returned home.

Very sad. I followed the link and it didn't say anything more. I'm curious if she left the baby in the car because it was sleeping or if she just forgot about it because she had her hands full with the other kids? I hope they update the story.

Really, really sad. My best guess, the baby was sleeping when they arrived home and she left him while dealing with the other two children but what happened after that? Her punishment is pretty harsh already, assuming she genuinely loves her children.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Terribly sad. :(

I can almost understand how someone could forget to drop a child at daycare on the way to work, then get wrapped up in the work routine, but when this woman fed the other kids and put them to bed, how could she not realize the littlest one was missing?? The kids are right there, and surely there's a routine for them, formula or baby food for the infant, and wouldn't the older kids have said something if they were old enough to talk? Makes me wonder if she was indeed incapacitated in some way, putting all of the kids in danger. Truly heartbreaking.

so sad, I just don't understand it, you have 3 other children, I would think the baby would be priority. You can't be that busy to forget that you have a 4th child.

I really have no sympathy for these people. I have never forgotten my daughter in the car. Neither has my husband. It just simply does not happen. I don't care how otherwise distracted I have been. I am really skeptical if it isn't used as some kind of socially acceptable post-term abortion.

Except it isn't socially acceptable or accepted by the law. Anyway, she HAD to be on something, I just can't comprehend it any other way. Ugh I'm actually crying to think of a 7 mo old baby crying himself to death.... :crying:

I remember a story from an Oprah episode a few years back. The shows topic was actually about sleep deprivation and how it affects people. The father forgot to drop the baby off at daycare in the morning. When the wife called her husband asking where the baby was when she went to pick him up- that's when he found the baby dead in the backseat.

He and a co worker took his car through a drive through for lunch and neither of them noticed the baby in the back. How horrible.
