We are applying for Vika's AP for (potentially - Lord I hope not!) multiple trips abroad. Now I hope that our process works normally and we get our I-485 approval at the same time as the EAD and AP. If not.... the following;

In part 3 item 1, Date of intended departure and expected length of trip, do we just guestimate the first departure? It doesn't seem to matter much.

Thanks

Yes, you should put in some future date, but remember -the purpose of the AP is for compelling emergency travel, not pleasure.

A lot of people put in a future date, for "just in case there is an emergency" scenario.

Congrats on the wedding btw - Vika looks lovely in her dress.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Well, if you go strictly by the instructions, you would know when you are traveling due to a compelling emergency, would you not?

I know a lot of posters say "no problems" but since I worked in the government for a while, i know sometimes if they want to follow the instructions to the letter, they will. :wacko:

I wouldn't think you would have a problem, but I decided, any suggestions I give here will be in regard to the actual written instructions or other guidance the USCIS/NVC/State department has given.

I would hate to give a suggestion that messes up someones process. :blush:

Sounds like an answer like "TBD" wouldn't necessarily cause a problem, but neither would a projected date that changes as the month draws near.

Well, if there is a compelling emergency, you can make an INFOPASS and they will usually give you one that day. (expedite is also possible)

You will not be required to pay for it, if you have your NOA for the AOS.

Leave it blank Brad. If you put a date you will receive an AP for a certain date. We got our APs (two) 2 days fater the GC was approved, so it all came about the same time. The APs we received are more or less "open ended" with a expiration date and nothing else. They send you two, you will probably never need them. They have the most horrible photos attached (actually copied) onto them, Alla would never have used hers anyway as the photo is too bad!!!!!!! LOL

As always - if you know, list it on the form - otherwise something like "Summer Vacation" or "honeymoon" etc should be acceptable - and yes, AP can certainly be granted for business/pleasure. (Most folks will check Part 7, item 1 as Multiple Trips.) :thumbs:
