 I have a Venn diagram where the universe=normal people and I just can't decide where they go. I suspect they don't belong at all.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

The stupid thing is, despite the position they are trying to take on this, I don't think Charles and Natty are abnormal either - obtuse, probably but not abnormal :)

hey wait ... i'm over here ... quit talking to the mirror :P

A.J might be many things, but a mirror he is not

Well that's it then, re instate the draft, for both men and women, because that is the only way to ensure combat training for every man and woman in the country.

How ridiculous can this get? Luckily, I have never met any of you crazy nutters in real life, but if I did, I would be very, very scared of you, because what you believe is not normal.

I don't think much of your training by the way Shooter. You mentioned that your sons are in Iraq collecting human trophies. Looks like you have reared a bunch of savages.

Sweden does it.

Israel does it, in fact, when that nut went crazy with that bulldozer, running over cars/people, several people, including at least two policemen and a security guard, opened fire at the man driving the bulldozer, stopping the carnage.

I hope you are never in a situation that would require the help of someone armed. I really do.

Been there, done that. It's not pretty.

So do I, and statistically, there is absolutely no reason why I should be. Have a great day enjoying your superior combat experience status.

MC gets a +6 to Strength.

Where's Almaty? He's the only responsible gun owner on here, well that I know of

maybe you can define what you think is a responsible gun owner.

One defining factor, perhaps, would be a person not living in paranoia over the evil government's plans to take their guns.

i didn't get the memo that made you her mouthpiece.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

People go about their daily business in the UK, just as they do here - there's nothing "sheltered" about it.

The fact remains - that I've lived in several countries (besides this one), and at no point have I felt the need to procure a weapon for home defence.

Your implication seems to be that everyone needs to buy into rampant paranoia. That might cut it for you - it doesn't for me (or indeed for your countrymen who want nothing to do with firearms).

Perhaps you need to take a few deep breaths and get a grip.

If everyone used your logic, few people would buy insurance.

In fact next time you think about a health, life or auto policy, remember this bit of wisdom you shared right here on VJ.

i support compulsory military service. it would build character in the fools who walk around with their hats on sideways and crotches down to their knees. those kids who evidence disrespect would come out of the experience as functional members of society.

my sons are in the states. one is a freelance artist, and the other is a photographer and in college. they both would qualify marksman, despite having never enlisted or commisioned. my nephews are at the turkeyshoot. they are providing stability for a nation that can't provide it's own, and are marking the notches as they are forced to by persons who are not happy with the status quo. neither of them are "hunters". one carries the pig. the other is cav. i'm proud of them both, and my sons, as well.

That's a very old-gitish view of society.

Military service - the magic solution to any and all social problems or character defects.

Not agreeing 100% with him, but I do think some kind of national service should be instituted in this country. Be it military, be it social. Not mandatory, but certainly incentivized.

I agree from that point of view - but you don't need national service to be responsible, organized or motivated.

That is very subjective. Even though I might not agree with all of your views, and what little I know about you... I wouldn't call you an irresponsible gun owner. I own guns as well.

Now if either one of us had commited a crime with our guns, or used them improperly, like discharging them in an unauthroized area... then that would be signs of an irresponsible gun owner.

Certainly.

Something does tell me though, that if it were the case, many of the 'GI Joes' around here wouldn't be so enthusiastic about having the right to completely shred apart little furry things when they could just as well do so with a more singular device.

It is my personal experience that those who have really been in the thick of extreme violence are somewhat reluctant to own guns, or have much to do with anything associated with violence afterward. Perhaps I have just met some very odd ex military types?

yes, it is subjective, but still no answer from her yet. i'm not really surprised though.

if i'd done a select few of those things you list as signs of an irresponsible gun owner, i'd also not be a cch holder.
