Waiting For Case Completion At NVC

I am in the same boat HSB. I sent both AOS and IV packages last week and FedEx confirmed delivery on Friday (March 20). The AVR says they have the documents. Talked to a rep once yesterday (March 25) and she wasn't very friendly and said to give it 2-4 weeks. It really matters who you get on the phone with these guys. I have had extremely nice and very helpful people and reps that are definitely on the other end of the spectrum.

What is the AVR? Is there a way to track our case on line? The NVC just received our final paperwork on Monday, 4/6 and I called today to see if there is a way to track it but they said no....please share if there is a way. Thank you!

I am still sweating it out waiting for USPS to deliver! It should get there today (wed. US time).

Hey, does anyone know if the NVC is working over the Easter period? In Australia, Friday 10th and Monday 13th are both public holidays, so no-one in govt offices is working - But does the NVC work?

Cheers and hope we all get a May interview date!!!!

AVR Automated Voice Response system. When you call NVC at 1-603-334-0700. You get automated response system first, you press 1 and then 5 to talk to an operator. So, they're right. The only way to track what is going on with your case is via calling NVC and going through AVR or talking to an operator. AVR has not been very reliable for me so I always talk to an operator.

April 10 is a federal hoilday in US, but NVC operator told me they will be working. Not sure about April 13, but I assume the same, they will be open.

anybody got a email from NVC with a pdf attachement "Instruction packet agent".. I don't understand what it is....I will call up NVC evening today...

I got an email on 4/3/09 with pdf attachment "petitioner packet letter". I was told by VJ members to ignore it because it was just a confirmation of them receiving our AOS payment. I am guessing yours is probably a confirmation about receiving IV payment.

Did you tried to login to NVC website where we did payment...for both of you what does it says, I paid it but now it showing as not paid..what about you people...

I just logged in this morning and both says PAID on both invoice and receipt pages.

Great! One less thing to worry about champi! :)

I guess I can officially join this thread now - I FedExed the package today so it will be on someone's desk tomorrow :innocent: I couldn't bear to check the thing again before sending - just hope and pray it's all in order and no RFEs will come my way. I just wanna know my husband's interview date so I can book my flight and go get him. :star:

good luck vivian, i just got my case completed yesterday and i'm waiting for my interview date; i hope it's a may date

Congrats Princess that is awesome!!:dance::dance: LUCKY U!!! I hope ours doesn't drag further. I am so tired of waiting!!

Vivian, when NVC receives ur packets, it doesn't go sit on a desk right away. Ours was received on 03/30/09 and it wasn't delivered to a rep till 04/02 when it was finally entered into the NVC system. It all depends on how much mail they receive and how fast they can deliver the packets our of the mail room to the appropriate locations. Good luck! :star:

Yes, I just sent a copy of 2008 tax return (not even transcripts), copy of W-2, letter of employment, and I-864 of course. previous years are optional so i didn't send anything else. no RFE yet.

Oceansea1,

I believe you will be fine with those photocopies...most of us only get computer printouts for tax returns anyway ( e-filing)...the main originals they want to see is marriage cert, birth cert, PCC. What am I forgetting?

Hello all,

I am in the same boat, I sent my IV/AOS package to my lawyer yesterday and he should probably sent it to NVC today or tomorrow.

Hey Guys,

I just sent out both AOS and IV packages today. I am still little worried though because I have not included anything about 2008 taxes in AOS package. I plan to apply for extension this year and I hope that does not cause any issue in completing the case.

Waiting as well. Not sure whether the AOS package will be OK as I only sent the photocopies of 2008 tax return and photocopy of 2008 W2, letter of employment. Hoping they will accept it...

Yes, exactly. I am hoping that it will be accepted. Everything else, I sent originals. Will keep everyone posted so that others can learn from our possible mistakes.

Thanks a lot.

Hi all ... wish you all good luck!!

Oceansea.... did you just send Tax Return and W-2 for 2008 and not for the other years as well? coz i was thinking of doing same since hubby is deployed and very difficult to get the transcripts

take care all

I am starting to worry now. I know I should not be a whiny baby and learn to be patient. But it's getting really hard. All along USCIS journey, I didn't expect any approval fast so I was ok. All along NVC journey till now, I kept busy with collecting documents, even prepping interview stuff. Now, nothing more to do. Anything besides immigration stuff, I find boring or wasteful. On top of that, the whole series of questions about 'will I get RFE? when will it get approved? will I get a May interview?' all of these is making me nervous. Oh, and I had to quit Soda this week.... mann!!!

Hi champi,

i know it's tough, but NVC received your docs a few days ago, normally takes a week minimum for case approval, that's the fastest i've seen.

give it some time, it won't make you worry less, but the more days that goes by without you getting RFE, that probably means your case is coming to a completion.

from what i have seen with others, if a RFE is given, it normally happens quick, normlly within first 4-5 days after your review begins. so if you get no RFE's by next monday, you probably will not get one and your case will be in the final stages of completion. again, just my thoughts only, nothing official.

Hi HSB,

Thanks for the thoughts. I never thought about getting through first week of case completion w/o RFE.. I'll focus on that and pray for no RFE instead of worrying :) Thanks a ton again!!!!

OMG champi you sound exactly like me! It's like u read my mind..How weirdddddddd!! I agree that maybe we are making ourselves worry too much. My hubby and I just want to hear the magic CASE COMPLETE soon and still hoping for a May interview but not sure if it will happen. However on a positive note, I have seen ppl on other threads who were able to move up the initial interview NVC had scheduled for them by calling the consulate directly and arranging it through them. As far as I know once our case is complete at the NVC level, NVC could care less what the heck we do with our interview dates....So I will for sure try to move up ours to end of May or sooner should we get stuck with a June interview. Let's wish on some lucky stars :star::star::star::star:

I am starting to worry now. I know I should not be a whiny baby and learn to be patient. But it's getting really hard. All along USCIS journey, I didn't expect any approval fast so I was ok. All along NVC journey till now, I kept busy with collecting documents, even prepping interview stuff. Now, nothing more to do. Anything besides immigration stuff, I find boring or wasteful. On top of that, the whole series of questions about 'will I get RFE? when will it get approved? will I get a May interview?' all of these is making me nervous. Oh, and I had to quit Soda this week.... mann!!!
