we've sent final packet of forms on 17th march but after that our lawyer got a letter on 3 rd april about some documents missing.. and we'd sent missing documents earlier this week ...

i called NVC 2-3 times but the operator said that they have not got anything from us.. today morning when my husband called ,she said they'd got some mail from us earlier in this week.. "give us 6-10 weeks of review and we'll inform you if we need something else. or your case will forward in next step."

so when should i call them back? and can i believe our case is almost complete.

I would call NVC everyday. NVC has probably rec'd your documents but has yet to scan them into their system.

Hahaha, nice work champi!

Here we go to another weekend knowing we won't have any updates. But good luck for all of us and let's hope to hear good news the next week :D

Apparently my I-864 has been approved and the DS-230 got in the system today.

Ah, and Happy Easter :)

called again to NVC and same old answer tht they hv not received any documents from us.

for my husband, when he called after me, the lady told they hv got some kindda mail and there are two possibilities after checking mail, either they will go on next step or they will ask for more papers needed, i dont understand anything? what she means by mail? and does it takes 2-6 weeks to check a single mail?

:wacko::wacko: i am confused and totally frustrated of calling and getting same reply daily but anways i will try on monday to call them and will check if she has got third kindda answer for me...

KD what's your timeline? When did you send your documents?

I think what she meant by "checking mail" it the actual review of the documents and the "next step" is whatever the next step would be, in my case the next step would be having an interview date assigned. And yes, they say it takes 2-6 weeks, but it's usually not like that at all.

we've sent final packet of forms on 17th march but after that our lawyer got a letter on 3 rd april about some documents missing.. and we'd sent missing documents earlier this week ...

so when should i call them back? and can i believe our case is almost complete.

KD, since they said they got some mail from you, that probably means the RFE is in their system and the are revewing. So maybe you will get case complete by next Friday.

I also agree. AVR states they have received our biographic forms and that they are still waiting for AOS. HELLO??? They were both sent in the same envelop :bonk: Operator said AVR is not always updated properly and to not rely on it 100%. I was told to ignore it.

I am not filing tax return but I am filing tax extension. My calculations for estimation on extension form will as if I am married filing jointly. I had an unpleasant experience with my accountant this year (she put 0.0 on all fields of both extension forms, which freaked me out a bit, didn't believe this is a right way to fill it out). So now, I am doing it all on my own. By filing extension, it will give me till Oct 15, 2009 to submit tax papers. By that time, my hubby will have SSN and so we can truly filing as married/jointly. :) I was bit worried about embassy asking for tax returns during interview time, but I emailed them and got written reply back saying they're ok with copy of extension as long as I(petitioner) write a letter them to saying why. I don't have any good reason, I'll just say I wanted to file jointly and could not allocate enough time to get ITIN # on time. I am pretty sure the whole extension thing will work since my friend was in same situation in 2007.

Anyways, I do agree with you. Week is going slow. On the bright side, I got enough work planned out to keep me busy or super busy all day tomorrow. :D

Good night everyone :)

"give us 6-10 weeks of review and we'll inform you if we need something else. or your case will forward in next step."

so when should i call them back? and can i believe our case is almost complete.

KD, since they said they got some mail from you, that probably means the RFE is in their system and the are revewing. So maybe you will get case complete by next Friday.

thx HSB, i will call them in next week to know about updates of our case ..

i dont know still how long it will take?

just crossing my fingers to listaen case complete ASAP

Don't know what the RFE is for. Just got this AVR message this morning: NVC has reviewed your packet of forms and found information missing or incomplete...now i have to wait until Monday to figure out what it is that's missing...something with AOS package or DS-230...not sure.

oceansea1: The RFE could be becos your AOS was accepted and they are still reviewing your DS230.

AVR was reporting RFE on our case as well for the very same reason...don't panic yet

I agree with Serendipity_

Hows everyone doing? I finally figured out how to file taxes which would allow me to make accurate estimates to file 2008 tax extension :D This weekend feels just too long. I really want some progress on Monday but at the same time, I don't want RFE ;) Have a Happy Easter every one :)

I also agree. AVR states they have received our biographic forms and that they are still waiting for AOS. HELLO??? They were both sent in the same envelop :bonk: Operator said AVR is not always updated properly and to not rely on it 100%. I was told to ignore it.

Champi, what do u plan on doing? I am filing mine as single come Monday. Man, I can't wait till the new week starts. This weekend seems longer than usual since I was off on Friday. I keep thinking it's Sunday today  A few more hours till Sunday anyways...Maybe if I sprinkle some lucky stars around, we can all move along super fast! :star::star::star::star::star:

Hey Champi,

Just thought I would let you know that you do not need to get an extension if the only reason is that your partner does not have an ITIN#. My husband and I filed jointly for the first time in 2007. My husband filed his taxes and they attached my W-7 application for ITIN to his tax return. They process both at the same time.

Cheers,

My update: AVR says my documents are under review as of 4/10, so praying for case completion by the end of this week, and a May interview, though perhaps that's way too much wishful thinking. :innocent:

On the tax issue, I filed in February. I was married in September last year, but my accountant said I should file single as my husband isn't in the US, has no SSN, etc. etc. So I filed single, got a nice refund, but felt nervous about getting an RFE once my case got to the NVC. I saw conflicting advice here and elsewhere online. I finally called the IRS and was told that should I file married filing jointly. I got my accountant to redo my return accordingly, then I was slugged with having to repay the fed more than $700  Perhaps I should've looked into an extension (didn't know I could) but it's done now.
