Just want to update my last post about how many times you can make call to the embassy for that $18 charge. Yes we have made the 4th call just today to set for an earlier appointment but still no good. So we will probably stick on the 23rd of April date for interview. Too bad, we would have too little time in our hands to purchase the ticket on April29th and so i could be there for my future mom-in-law's birthday...

Folks! Let's make a little community here exclusive only for Filipinos in Alabama. I'll get it started okay?

And please please try to be conservative this time (as how it reflects the state AL)..lets be more laid back and most especially SENSIBLE...

You can post greetings, issues, discussions, concerns, events, what's up and about in ALABAMA.

Let's try to create a thread that does not contain cuss words or provocative statements...(Well, im sure there will be people who would always try to mess up things like this).

Alright, so..let's keep this up and going!

hi there.i am Via from cardona rizal philiipines but my fiancee lives at pansey, alabama.my fiancee just got our hardcopy of noa2 last march 24 and he got also my Manila case number.my question is do u know if i can go to medical now or do i need to wait the letter from manila us embassy.can i set also my interview now even i havent heard from manila us embassy.thanks

Okay got it! You can call NVC anytime from when you got your case number from them and ask them if it had already been sent to USEM Manila....once you have known the date it left NVC, count like 7-10 days then make a call to the USEM Manila to set an interview date...Better to have the petitioner do it (which will worth ($18) good for 3 calls but some said they did 4 times)...don't wait for the embassy to send you the appointment letter for it takes weeks sometimes to arrive, so better call them when you think they're ready to give you the schedule (sometimes they would advise you to call after two weeks but no, call them like after a couple of days) they will send the appointment letter in your email and you can print it out...and the ahrd copy from them will serve no purpose by then.

You can go to SLEC for medical examination anytime since its a first come first serve basis. But it would be more practical to go to the clinic if and when you already have the copy of your appointment letter. Also bring 3 2x2 pics and make copies of your passport already for they will hold your passport and they will be the one to send it to the embassy. You can actually go there anytime and just bring the copy of your approved petition and write the case number on the page you have printed out..but the medical result is valid for 3 months only.

Just post your queries here...and i'll try my best to help you in a way i know and i can.

thanks for the reply i really appreciate it.my fiancee told to me that he got a letter from NVC says they been forwarded it on manila embassy.and we have already the case number.do we need to wait the packet first before we can set our interview?what were going to do for the next step?

Given your timeline...i think you can call anytime next week...probably wednesday onwards but if you want to try monday or tuesday you can, anyway like i said that $18 fee is good for 3 calls or more (but not sure about 3 or more)...They will ask your fiance of the beneficiary's infos like CASE #, EMAIL, ADDRESS,FULL NAME, BIRTHDATE, and CONTACT NUMBER. Good luck to you. Meanwhile, you can start working on getting all the necessary docs done because some documents really take time to complete or to have.

hi again.did u get your packet3 and packet4 already?do u know whats that all about?what number do i call,do u know the number can u give it to me pls.thanks i really appreciate it.where can i pay the medical examination fee?do i need to pay it peso or dollar?

alright via...sure i can help you since i' almost through...

The packet 3 is just a letter from embassy telling you what to do (actually not, because they would just direct you to their website on how to complete all the requirements) please check here --> http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfk1en.pdf <-- and you wont be needing that apcket 3 thing if you will try to call them like 7-10 working days from the day your case left NVC. The number to call is also stated in there.

For the packet 4, i have no idea..i don't think the USEM here sends packet 4 because after completion of requirements, you will only have to wait fr your interview day and thats the day you're gonna bring all the required documents.

for your medical...just bring your money in PESO with you..they don't accept payments in dollar..and same thing when you pay to the bank for your application, which is also be in peso. You can make a checklist on what to bring to those places (SLEC, USEM, bank).

Hope you will find this helpful. And i dont mind really.

yes my fiance have found a $914 one-way ticket in nwa site and we hope and pray we can still find same price in weeks from now since we dont want to make any travel plans yet til i have the visa in hand. Thanks for giving me all those sites!

By the way my fiance is from Hartselle Alabama, right up the hill and i think i will like it there, cozy and relaxed area anyway (as what i saw in the pictures he took to let me see his place) just 5 minute away from Decatur...

northern Alabama is beautiful country. Not extremely cold in the winter but it has it's moments hehe. There is a lot of things to do in that part also. I lived there for 3 yrs before coming to the Philippines and it was quiet and relaxing.

Yeah..that's waht im getting excited about..to be in my fiance's place...I have been born, raised and living in a busy, and fast-paced cities of Bacolod and Cavite and this transition ill be going through brings a nice feeling, i know.

And everytime i meet some fellow, i feel so glad. And by the way, my fiance was right when he told me that people in AL are more friendly than people in other states ad big cities. Im happy to be here finally.

Hello and mabuhay from Alabama,

We are in Birmingham. Alabama. There are about 300 Filipina/Alabama couples here.

Another 100 or more in Huntsville and more in Mobile. If you want to locate some in Alabama do a place - Alabama - search on Friendster.com.

Several hundred will appear. I know that is not many compared to other regions but everyone in Alabama loves the Filipino people, I believe.

There is no regional immigration center or field office in Alabama. There is a small biometrics center in Birmingham and most likely that is where you will go to have you biometrics for A.O.S.

Always great to connect with other Filipinos here in Alabama. Take care and may our Lord protect you on your new life journey.

Hello to all! Kumusta?

I won't be living in AL because my fiance is based in TN but he is born and raised in AL. My soon-to-be-in-laws are still there. We'll be dropping by at AL once in a while. It's nice to know that there are many filipinos/filipinas in that area. Would be nicer to meet some someday. :)

Good luck at he biometrics. They will usually take you anytime, they are not concerned about your appointment time, but bring all required documents. Rose just went for her fingerprints, N-400, and it took less than 30 minutes. No problem with parking. The place is small. There is an Oriental Super Market less than a mile from the office. when you leave the biometrics turn right at the bottom of the hill onto Valley Road and cross over I-65, past the Wachovia bank about three more blocks on the left is the Oriental store that has some Filipino foods. We purchased a box of Filipino Mango juice there last week. Rose says that it is the real thing. Take care and may our Lord bless you.
