Yeah, Wilton's cheese is absolutely wonderful! I remember a number of years ago their cheesemaker died and they closed for 3 years before they were able to get another cheesemaker. When they re-opened they had a special on this absolutely incredible 9 year old cheddar - some of the best cheese I have ever tasted! Of course, they had stock for 2 or 3 years then ran out. I think 6 years old is their oldest now. Compare that to the US where they brag on their old cheddar that it is 6 months old! Geeze - that barely qualifies as new cheese and no where near old or aged. Do you ever visit Wilton pottery when you go to the Cheese Factory? I love their stuff as well although it is pricey to afford.

I know!!!!! I laugh every time I see that stuff. Also, for some reason, I can't find anything that says how old the cheese is. Are they scared of advertising that cheese is a few years old?

Not food... but, are you able to find J Cloth in your area? After looking in a few stores in the US, I gave up and brought some during my next trip...

No they don't sell them in the US, I actually e-mailed JCLOTH headquarters in Mississauga. My Mom brought me 6 boxes at Christmas time. I looked all over for them as I was fed up of the crappy cloths here, Jcloths are da bomb!

I don't use J-Cloths but I do use these small scrubbie sponges which I used to get from Dollarama but I can't find here. 12 "Deluxe Scrubbing Sponges" for only $1! I have a supply in my cupboard now.

Oh! A dollar store story!!! The first time my girlfriend and I went to a dollar store I was picking up things and going "I wonder how much this is? Why don't they put the prices on things?" My girlfriend just gave me a look of disgust and said "It's a DOLLAR store."

Can you get Mars bars in LA? I can't find them in Atlanta. I'm vexed that I've moved to the country that makes my favourite candy bar but to a place where I can't buy it.

I got all confused, there, because the Mars Bar is a British product. So I looked it up and saw that they make it here too. Now we'll have to do an ingredient comparison because I strongly suspect it's not made the same.

Yes - it is just east of Kingston. You can get off at the Odessa exit on 401 and head south to Wilton - a really small rural community. They have fresh curds still warm from the pans - oh yum! Here is a link: http://www.wiltoncheese.com/

Darnit! I wish I'd known this when I was driving back from Montreal.

i live close enough to the border (québec/vermont) that im in pretty good shape for cross-border shopping. i do wish that ketchup potato chips would catch on here (please please please). last yr for my birthday, my lovely british boyf was going to send me kechup potato chips (aww.) but he couldnt find any so he just mailed me regular ones with a packet of ketchup rubber-banded to them. not the same thing, but he got a lot of points for creativity and cleverness.

If you have Walgreens near you, they're selling the Burker King chips now and one of the ones is Fries and Ketchup which pretty much taste the same as ketchup chips. I'm getting them all the time and I don't even eat chips, but now find myself eating those ones a lot now that I've finally found out they are selling them here now...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

I disagree.. they are more like corn chips than potato chips.. and the flavor isn't as snappy as I remember.. they will do in a ketchup chip pinch, but I'm still going to buy ketchup chips when I go home :)

"Glenny's American Fries" are these tasty fry looking things and they have ketchup flavour.... it's not as ketchupy as real Lays ketchup chips but they're damn good enough to satisfy my craving! Plus they're baked and only 120 cals for the entire bag!

The size of the Milky Way, like the U.S. Mars Bar, dwarfs its Canadian counterpart. The ingredients, while not identical, are indeed of a similar make-up,

United States - Milk Chocolate, (Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Chocolate, Lactose, Skim Milk, Milkfat, Soy Lechithin, Artificial Flavor), Corn Syrup, Sugar, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Skim Milk, Less than 2% - Milkfat, Cocoa Powder Processed with Alkali, Lactose, Malted Barley, Wheat Flour, Salt, Egg-Whites, Artifical Flavor, Soy Protein

Canada - Sugar, Corn Syrup. Milk Ingredients: Hydrogenated Soybean & Palm Oil, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Mass. Modified Milk Ingredients: Malted Milk Powder, Malted Barley Wheat Flour, Sodium Bicarbonate. Cocoa, Soy Lechithin, Salt, Dried Egg-White, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Artifical Flavour

Nope, they have been manufactured and sold as "Smarties" since 1932. More than 60 years later, Nestle renamed their product to Smarties :P

You've got it backwards. Nestle (Rowntree) has sold the chocolate ones under the brand name Smarties since 1937..... the US company Ce De Candy purchased the name (Smarties) for their hard candy from Nestle 60 years ago.... more than 10 years later.

They were produced and sold as "Chocolate Beans" until 1977.......

Uhhhhh ..... wrong!

They were chocolate beans from the 1800's until 1937.

Just out of curiousity..... where are you getting your information from? Or are you making it all up to start a post war?

Well, usually, that is good enough. All they do is cut and paste stuff off of corporate FAQ's anyways :P

I've been looking for something more concrete, but as far as I can see, they were "Chocolate Beans" until 1977 :P

Now I think i'm going to go take a nap...... when I come back, i'll have some far fetched "facts" that i've imagined. That's about as reputable as citing wikipedia right?
