My sister and bother in law are driving down next week for a visit  (it was supposed to be a surprise but I blew it! LOL)

I've got the usual suspects on my list: Timmy's coffee for the hubby, Shreddies (square and diamond ones ;) ), Aero bars (for a friend), Smarties and Ketchup chips.

Anything else I should ask for - I'm having a brain fart.

btw, my grocery now carries Stoned Wheat Thin crackers. I find it quite funny that the box actually says "imported" on it.

Well, if I was still eating junk foods, I would add high fructose corn syrup free Heinz ketchup. And some KD. And Campbell's tomato soup.

I've really been missing back bacon lately. But you can't bring that over the border. Meats not allowed. :(

I always read the ingredients on coke and it doesn't say HFCS, so what is the difference between Canadian and US Pop?

OMG! Dejas vu!!!!!

Okay, I just went and took a look at the caffeine-free coke I have here. The 2nd ingredient, after carbonated water, is HFCS. I have no idea why I've gained so much weight.

Maybe it's just caffeine free coke then? I have diet coke and there is no HFCS in the ingredients.

Oh right. Good point. They wouldn't put it in the diet stuff because of the high sugar content. They'd exchange it for aspartame or whatever sugar substitute du jour suits their fancy.

Huh? I've had KD, Heinz Ketchup, bacon and Cambell's soup in the US... Where the heck did you guys move?! :P

The Canadian versions of those products taste different to some. I personally, don't really taste a huge difference... but there have been debates on it!!

The taste is different because the U.S. replaces sugar or Gluctose-Fructose with HFCS instead.

I would get some All Dressed Ruffles and Oh Henry bars.

CDN:Liquid Sugar

CDN:White Vinegar

CDN:Salt

CDN:Onion Powder

CDN:Spices

U.S.: Tomato Concentrate (made from red ripe tomatoes)

Hummm strange... I've never noticed a difference myself. I don't ever pick up on that stuff... Friends of mine have complained about the taste of things like meat and milk in the US but I think they are all crazy. I don't have very refined tastes so It's not all that surprising... :P
