Never marry before 60 days upon arrival!

An old wives tale that refuses to die.

I would say it would put her case under more scrutiny, getting married 2 weeks after coming into the country.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I actually speak from personal experience. I adjusted from B2 successfully. Some attorneys would not even deal with cases in which B2 visitors marrying a US citizen within 30 or 60 days upon arrival, especially China is considered a high fraud country. Why take the risk if there are safer alternatives?

For the USCIS hotline, I recorded the time, the name of the person that we called just in case. They told us I could stay and that was what I did.

The OP is also right about they focus more on whether you have an intent to stay than financial issue from China. An extended relative of mine got denied of a student visa because she was naive enough to volunteer she has other close family members in the US and knows such and such friends, etc. She had all the necessary financial support but she was denied.

Anyways, good luck!
