Hello everyone :-) Jason is Coloradan and I am English...We met online in April 2007 and then in person August of the same year. I was living abroad in Jordan at the time (I am half Arabic and half English, and am a UK citizen through my mum) and we decided that I would finish my studies (BSc. Pharmacy) before getting married. So I returned to Jordan after having spent a month with Jason and soent a year finishing off my degree (I visited him in my mid year break too). I graduated June 2008 and we were all set to have the wedding-my family were there already as visitors to se me get married, the dress was bought, judge was booked, etc-and I flew out, only to discover that you aren't allowed to enter if you intend to marry a US citizen. It may sound very naive but we though a British woman and an American man could get married and live together...Especially what with the whole visa waiver situation. So I was refused entry and I flew to Britain, where in July we hired an immigration attorney and filed for a K1 visa for me. It was approved Jan 2009, and I did everything needed, including go to my medical on the day when it snowed so much transport was in complete lockdown across the country (200 quid the taxi driver charged me!). I had my interview scheduled for March 18th and Jason and I were so happy that after all this waiting we could finally be together. At my interview it all seemed ot go so well, until the lady asked me if Jason was muslim. I said yes, and she asked if his 2 kids were, and I said yes.(We had an Islamic marriage in the mosque in August 2007 when we met) Then she said she had trouble believing that we didn't know that we needed a K1 to legally get married in the US before I travelled, esp as Jason had previously married a British lady...I explained that in that previous marriage of his what happened was she went there to visit him, and then he on impulse proposed, and she stayed and changed her status from a visitor...So no issue of needing a visa if you travel with the intent to get married ever came up, and he had no clue that it was not allowed to do so...She then told me our case needed "Further administrative processing" and that they would contact me when it was all done. I asked how long it would be and she said anywhere from 1 week to 6 months, there was no way of knowing! :-( So here we are, and I am really upset-we were so sure it would be a matter of days only, and i could fly out after the interview...I was wondering if anyone has had anything of this sort happen to them, and how long their administrative processing took? It is so hard having no sort of time frame whatsoever, espeiclaly as Jason can't spend a lot of time with me here as he has shared custody of the kids and his job, etc...Anyway, anything you can suggest would be appreciated! Thanks!
