Damn, that is sad. It still does look like a scam, I mean, doesn't seem she took off alone, but at least she did contact him so he won't worry for her. Thanks for the update.

IMO, Lamon would be better off to not jump to that conclusion - and realize they both made some bad decisions and leave it at that.

Thanks for the update Steven, and for being helping Lamon out. Do you know if she will return back to the PI, or just become another illegal? If she truly got cold feet, then I would think she would return home, and not make the same mistake again.

She didn't reveal where she was or what she'll do, but apologized to Lamon and said she would find a way to pay him back for all the expenses. It's a sad situation all around, but at least he can move forward and has no responsibility to her at this point. I think he's hoping that she'll come around to marrying him. I hope for the best for both of them.

I think she just want to have a vacation here!!!!wow!!! where she get the money to pay him back? Is she rich in the philippines?? or try to look for more big fish at the pacific ocean? sorry...but hate girls like her.

You're jumping to conclusions.

yes. you know how much time, money and effort to process a visa. it takes years to get approved. now that you are at the POE you will change your mind?? I am a filipina and i dont like on what she did to her fiancee. i am sad it happened to Lamon. i hope this will be a lesson not only to him but to everyboby.

I really hate this girl whatever her reasons is not fair to American men,she needs to be banned for any petitions in the future.

I am glad there is no foul paly, but I am still worried that she had the means and opportunity to slip away the way she did. A new immigrant in a strange country? Not even I would venture away from the airport in Detroit, of all places! Something still does not add up to just cold feet.

There was another Filipina on her flight that she met before. Her flight from Manila to Detroit was 36 hours with a 12 hour layover, and then she was facing another 8 hours in Detroit, where it was snowing, before her final destination in Kentucky - with no one there to greet her, and she had no pocket money to even buy something to eat. Again, some poor decisions were made and it's just a sad story. I understand people are curious to know how this ended up happening, but there's a lot there and no clear good guys or bad guys.

I just hope that the CFO can be more diligent in preparing Filipinos for their new life in the states. It is a pretty overwhelming change even under the best of circumstances and many, well intentioned K-1's have had second thoughts after arriving here. This woman is not alone in that respect.

That makes more sense, that she was not alone. Future lesson here: Accompany your fiance(e) to America, especially if it is not a direct flight.

I was skeptical in the beginning as well. Let's just let bygones be bygones. We all know she is safe....and that's what matters most at this point.

That definitely clears things up, Steven. Given that information, then I am more inclined to believe what she did was NOT premeditated, and it truly was a case of cold feet. Once again, thanks for explaining, and not being judgemental.

No disrespect, but she has no pocket money to buy some food, but she has the aptitude to leave the airport, call from some random phone and then disappear for days? IMO it seems that the fiancee has an aptitude in finding her way out of tough situations.

BINGO!!! :yes::thumbs:

That's what I did, and not because I was afraid she'd run away. I just know how intimidating it can be to travel to a foreign country.
