So, i got an RFE, it says in the letter we need to prove some assets or property Or get a joint sponsor.

Question: I live in NY, now, can i have either my cousins as joint sponsor even if they're from chicago and san francisco? Or should i get somebody related to us thats locally (in NY) .

And what's the difference when they say "co-sponsor" and "joint sponsor"?

btw, we dont have any assets to prove so my best bet is to get a joint sponsor.

We didn't use a joint/co-sponsor, so I can't really tell you too much about it, but I don't think it matters where they live as long as they are USC's and you include a birth certificate or something that proves their ID.

The instructions of the I-864 on the USCIS website should explain everything you have to do, and/or maybe somebody else used a co-sponsor and can answer your questions better.

I check my status online.. and I found out this:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: REQUEST FOR INITIAL EVIDENCE SENT, CASE PLACED ON HOLD

On May 13, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the evidence requested and a decision is made, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your mailing address.

--- WHat is this mean? I will check my mail box later or tomorrow.. to see what they talking about.. Hope everything will be ok..:)

This means they need more evidence/supporting documents etc from you. Unfortunately, the online status doesn't tell you what they want. You need to wait for the letter in the mail. They probably sent it out on the 13th or 14th, so it should be there maybe tomorrow or beginning of next week.

We got a touch on 5/13. Really hope it's not an RFE for the medical stuff!

Hoping it's good news and not an RFE!

Hello everyone! I took my biometrics today, everything was very fast and lady was very nice!! I left home at 7am, took me 1 and 1/2 hour to drive there and at 10am I was already back in town shopping at Walmart!

Congrats! The biometrics appointment letter arrived in the mail about 20 minutes ago. My appointment is on 27th May.

Congrats! Are you planning on going earlier or on the 27th?

Hi guys!

Can I be add to yours spreadsheet ?

Welcome to the April Filers

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know I recieved my biometrics appointment letter today. Appointment is June 2nd, though I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I am able to do a walk-in (the 2nd is a Tuesday and hubby works).

If someone could add that to the sheet, it would be great :)

Congrats :) I'll add it to your row. :star:

Thanks Chibby! I will probably just wait it out until the 27th as i don't want to risk walking in and getting turned away. I already had so many problems trying to get a SSN (and am still waiting for it to be put into my married name)that i don't want to get stressed out again at another govt department unneccesarily :P

Congrats... I received my biometrics appointment letter today also and our appointment is scheduled for May 30th. I figured it would be scheduled while we're out of town, so I'm going to see if we can go earlier. Not sure why theyare sending us all the way to Baltimore though.

Congrats on receiving your appointment letter! Also congrats to JenniandBo and Nanda!

Glad that people are getting biometrics appointments through now, makes it seem like the process is moving!

Had cases touched for last 4days in a row but still no transfer!

All those touches seem to be sooooo random. Everybody seems to be touched when they do the biometrics and the day after, but then? My file was touched on the 12th and 13th but nothing happened, what are they doing? Checking if any RFE's need to be send? Just moving the file around?

 USCIS is not good for my sanity.

I'm with you Chibby and Rob&Dawn -- the ball is really rolling for the EAD and the AP! But we've had no touch on the AOS since 5/8th! It's still stuck at MSC/National Benefits Center. :crying:

The randomness at USCIS is truly infinite. Panterchen and me filed the K1 last June just a few days apart and she got her NOA 2 three month later than I did mine. Maybe you're lucky and your AP/EAD are on top of that pile while your AOS is buried somewhere.

I cross my fingers that they dig it up soonish and you get transferred, too.

No record of the biometrics appointment or no record of you AOS? I hope it arrives and you don't wait 30 days. I would be worried too. I would wait a week and call again.

Congrats to everyone doing biometrics this week and getting letters! Exciting times!!!

No record of our case or biometrics! It's not showing on the website either so they told me to call back after 30 days of the NOA date.

Chibby - I would send you dates but we don't have any! We received our notice on April 22nd, not heard anything since....
