I didn't realize you could just show up and they would do it early. We both already arranged for Wednesday off work next week so that's when we'll go. Will going early get you looked at sooner?

Happy waiting!

Shelly

That would be interesting to know. My appointment is in two weeks, but if it helps speed up I'd go earlier, too. But well on the other hand, what are two more weeks in this process. Sigh. But panterchen, I can see why you went earlier, your appointment was really a long wait.

Chibby

Yeah, and I don't even know why. This morning at 10am when I was there, there were only 5 people in front of me and it didn't take longer than 30 minutes all together. I'll keep you posted when I hear anything new. It would be interesting to know if that has any effect on the EAD coming sooner. Would be nice. But then...ahhh I gotta find a job! ;)

At least you can do something proactive and not keep waiting. Our appt. is at 1 pm maybe we will just go early.

Happy waiting!

As far as I know it is mandatory in the AOS stage if you belong to the respective age group that has to have it. During K1 it is not mandatory but AOS yes.

Who told you it wasn't mandatory and when?

Hey ailyn,

I kinda have the same situation. My local office (and the nearest) is Washington D.C., but for my biometrics I'm invited to the USCIS office in Alexandria. Maybe there are some offices that are only there for taking and managing the biometrics???

That would be the only explanation that makes sense to me.

Chibby,

I guess that maybe it. I just hope that during the interview it will be in the nearest office. Its a pain going to Jamaica or even in Manhattan. My husband said we're gonna call and maybe ask why its in jamaica. I told him dont bother. I just dont want it to be the cause of any kind of delay. Im just thankful and happy i gt the appointment now and i know my case is moving.

Hi April Filers!!!

Me and my husband finally filed our AOS package. Just a little backround on us, we were married 06/07/08. I unfortunately lost my job and we've had a lack of funds to send out the AOS. We have had all the paper work ready to go just waiting on the big fat check to send it away to USCIS-land. Luckily we had some help from some angels and we were able to send it out this month! Since we were so late sending it out, we're waiting to see what USCIS has to say.

So far so good though, USCIS cashed our check, and we received our NOA1 for I-485, I-795, and I-131 this past Friday!!

I hope everyone is doing good, and I send wishes of speedy, painfree processing to all!

Shannon
