I've been checking the system our numbers start with MSC, but it only says it was received April 13. From what I've read on the forums some people can never see their case online. And some don't get updated. So I guess it's really just a roll of the dice.

Will you get more info if you register instead of just checking online status?

Shelly

When you're registered, you can see when your case was last "touched", means somebody accessed it. And, of course, when you have your cases in your portfolio you can set the Email Notifications to "Yes" and you'll get an email, as soon as your case status changes.

I'll attach a picture of my portfolio, so you see what I'm talking about.

Thanks Chibby, that would at least make me feel good knowing it's been looked at and not just sitting in the pile. I will definitely register tonight when I get home.

Hi everybody!

I have just read all the posts and CONGRATS to all of you who already received some letters. I am working on my AOS and EAD papers right now and think I'll turn them in next week.

I got one question, even it might be stupid, but I just wonder... Did you all take new passport pictures? Because in the instructions it says "taken within 30 days...". But I still got so many pictures left from September which I got for the whole visa process and I just wanted to use those. I don't think it should be a big deal, as I don't really change in 6 months. And how could they tell? Because I am wearing the same T-Shirt? :)

Thanks and I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of you waiting right now.

Hey, anyone know if it matters if I (the USC) change my last name during the AOS process? We listed my maiden name on the I-485 and the affidavit because that's what's on my birth certificate, passport, and tax returns. But I don't want to wait until we get the GC to change it (I have a looong last name, his is short and sweet :D ). Any ideas?

What does it say on your marriage certificate? If you put both names down on the AOS forms, I'm not sure if it will make a difference.

I changed all mine before we filed.

Good luck,

Shelly

It depends on your age. The HPV is just required when you are younger than 27 by the time of filing.

I will have changed my name on my Social Security before I file but not on my German passport. Does that matter? I don't think so, as they can see my name change on the marriage certificate, too. Right? Because I don't want to wait for the German embassy in Chicago to change my name on my passport, who knows how long this will take....

i had the same thing done for my wife who's a USC....i had her last name changed everywhere (driver's license, SSN, credit cards, bank accounts, etc) except passport before filing....

B&J, I think u can go ahead and get your last name changed....it wouldn't be a problem as long as you have all the records...for example, old driver's license, copy of application for change of name whereever u apply....

that's my opinion....better ask some experts too!!!

I agree. You should be fine. I don't think they needed a copy of your driver's license in the packet. You should be fine to get that changed. I haven't changed my passport yet either.

Welcome to the new filers!

Some people can never see their case online, but it may take a few days to show up. All mine says is received and pending.
