Chibby,

can this man that we really all need to have an additional TB skin test done? I am about to explode and hate this whole system. Why on earth would the doctors at the medical before we get the K1 not do this then? Instead we might have to redo everything here...

I know I don't understand it either, it makes NO sense. Especially when you look at the part SunRay posted (look at what I highlighted in her quote).

Here's some info from the USCIS site.

Q: Who is required to have a TB test?

All applicants two years of age or older are required to have a tuberculin skin test (TST). Children younger than age two are required to have a TST if there is evidence of contact with a person known to have TB or if there is other reason to suspect TB. If evidence of TB infection is found, a chest x-ray is required. Any person with a positive skin test reaction of more than 5mm will also be required to undergo a chest x-ray.

So IF the skin test is positiv, you have to have a chest xray to see if you're really infected with TB. But we already HAD a chest x-ray, why would we do step 1 again, when we're already past step 2????

I agree, I think it'####### or miss on TB test. I think if you had the medical done here, you will need to get the test. I would not worry about it unless you get a RFE.

Chibby since your friend got an RFE I think they are going to have to redo it. The USCIS changed forms maybe that has something to do with it.

I know it's a pain, but I would just have it redone. It's probably the fastest way to get the process started again.

The thing is just, SunRay quoted that this is required for all people who had their medical after June 2008. I had my medical in DECEMBER and the USCIS approved doctor in Frankfurt obviously wasn't aware of it, otherwise you would think they would offer the option to take a skin test. But no, they just make you go to another doctor here again, pay even more money, as if we're not already broke because USCIS anyways. :ranting:

I called the customer serv center to request an expidite on my ead...they said i should get a response in 5 days....i hope sooo

That's great news. Good luck

My wife and daughter had their medical exams on May 22nd, 2008, so they fell within the 30 day grace period.

I added a photo copy of the rule, along with the med section and forms I submitted, just in case a USCIS worker, was not familar or missed the wording of the bulletin.

When we had my husbands vaccinations transcribed onto the I-693, they made him get the TB test. The good thing was that he didn't show a reaction to the test so he didn't need any further treatment. I told the nurse that he had a chest x-ray in Jamaica. They completed pages 1,3 and 5 and I sent in that.

Did you submit the X-ray? I thought they didn't want x-rays unless you tested positive for TB with the skin test.

Is it possible that CS's are not keeping up todate on what USCIS wants or that the USCIS is not informing them?

No, I didn't submit any x-ray with my AOS packet. Since he already had it done in Jamaica, I assume it's in his brown envelope that we turned in to the guy at POE.

This makes absolutely no sense at all. We had the chest x-ray which clearly shows no TB- why should I do the skin test then now? Ridiculous. Or is the government afraid I got TB between January and now??? I am just venting. I am sure a lot of you guys are in the same situation like us. We are already short of money, my husband is a student and working part-time, here I sit without an EAD and then there is tons of costs incurred by USCIS. Arrrg!

By the way: What requirements are there to qualify for an EAD expedite?

I was given my x-ray seperately and told to keep hold of it for AOS!

When i had the vaccinations transcribed by Dr Arnold onto the I-693 i asked if i needed the TBt and was told no it wasn't necessary.

Seems to be no rhyme or reason as to how some sail through AOS without needing TBt and some have to re-do medicals...guess we're at the mercy of the USCIS adjudicator and what they think on any given day!

yes, in that case you would have to get another chest x-ray. It the results had of been negative you would not have need the additional x-ray.

I agree! It seems there are a lot of things that really just depends on what worker looks at your case.
