Hi, my name is monica..i married 4 years ago in my country india... i came to usa about 6 month ago. getting 10 years green card, after coming here i came to know abt the truth of my husband, and the last 6 month has been like a hell for me here, i m trying to escape from this country now, cos my husband has mentaly threaten me soo much, that even my hello get abuse to him now.. he hates meeeeeeeeee. i dont want to go in detail , i just want to say, i might get mentally upset soon, he is threating me , and he is now calling me that i m mentally sick, which i fell that one day i would bcos of him. last night he said he will deport me to my country , and my 10 year card will be of no use. i dont know what he is trying to do.. but i think he is going to do something, i have nobody here..i dont know anyone. i dont know how to go to court, how to contact here...i dont know what to do, i just this site at internet i might get some advise..i dont care about my 10 year green card cos i m not here for green card i was here for him.. i want to go back to my country , but he is saying i will be facing court and some jail..... i dont know why. i have not even done anything to him.........help me......thanks

Monica, first of all take a deep breath, 2nd he can't DEPORT you. Are you being abused? He doesn't have to hit you for it to be abuse...abuse comes in many forms. Do you have a friend, neighbor or family member here that you can reach out to?

No he didnt hit me, like he is threating me.. no i dont have anyone here except my GOD

He cannot have you deported and if you have not anything illegal in this country, the courts/jail are not a possibility.

Look in phone book or on-line for a local women's shelter and/or legal aid --- they can provide advice on getting divorced.

If you want to go back to India, that is your choice and he cannot stop you.

Please, please do not get pregnant.

No...you are in the country now and he can not deport you....really your best bet is to contact an immigration lawyer. Don't worry about paying for the lawyer they usually do free consults and then use his credit card, he is going to have pay anyway....what State are you in?

no he cant cancell your greencard. its yours now. if u stay married to him you can get citizenship in 3 years. if u divorse you have to wait til 5 years. there is nothing he can do if u want to stay here. u r legal. he just is saying things to scare you.

he is a bul### ,he can't do nothing to u,remember u are in US not india, if he bothers u or threat u call 911 on him,if he threat u u threat him to,tell him u will call police on him and then let him show his big mouth and muscles on them not on poor wife,,,

the GC is yours and no one can deport u ,

why would u leave the county which u have soo many chances and apportunities for u and ur baby,,this considerd ur country now ,stay here and i will pm u to see if i can be at more help

First thing is first, get out of there, for your sake and the babys. Like anitacastillo said find a local woman's shelter and then look at your choices more clearly, he can't do anything to you, your Greencard is yours alone and gives you the same rights as him.

Do you have family in India? I would go home to them and get yourself in a better position and then decide weather the good ol USA is the place for you.

You stated earlier that you do not care about the green card, then you ask if he can cancel your GC. If you are being abused as stated, you need to get out and get help NOW...green card should be your last concern at this point. Once you are safe, all of those things can be ironed out. Best wishes to you. Prioritize and know that your life and that of your unborn child are FAR more important than whether or not you can remain in the US.

If you have a 10 yr greencard, there is NOTHING he can do to cancel it or deport you from the country. LEAVE now and seek your nearest Womens' shelter.

There may be light ahead -- contact your nearest Catholic church and find out how to reach Catholic Charities. CC has staff who can deal with your immediate need for peace, and also the immigration issues. There is no charge, and it is not necessary to be Catholic or even Christian to get the help you need.

Since you have GC, he cant deport you.. but you can deport him to jail!

You are now pregnant and you have more power to fight and ask for child support.

Mentally threatening is still a threat, go find a lawyer or call some friends there in your place.

Your husband cannot have you deported but since you are pregnant, he would eventually have some rights as the father of your child. If you have possession of your passport and money for an airplane ticket, nothing at all stops you from simply calling a taxi and leaving for India. Otherwise, I agree the first call to Catholic Charities would be a good start, regardless of your religion.

You might want to start documenting his threats.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
