My wife and stepson are AOS from a K1 visa. Last week my wife received her biometric appointment letter. Her appointment is scheduled for March 31, 2009. I expected my stepson to receive his appointment at the same time, but so far he hasn't received it. In the past they received their biometric appointments on the same day for their EAD. I am not sure what to do next. Is there a number that I can call to inquire about this? Should I take my stepson to my wife's appointment to see if they will work him in? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Grid

It is what I would do if the appointments are on a different day

How old is the stepson? If under 14, the EAD biometrics may be the same as the AOS biometrics.... If I remember correctly, they do more things after 14

YMMV

I would first of all check your step son's previous biometric letters sometimes they are individual or for both the EAD and AOS ? not to ask the obvious but did you sent in all the forms in together or separate ?

Mother and son applied jointly. When they received the letters for the EAD, they received separate letters and their appointments were on the same day and time.

Have you checked the on line status of both their cases ?

First of all, RELAX. This is not a BIGGY!.....

1) The letters would be arrived at a different date.

2) Why weren't the bio for 765 & 485 on the same day? Why 2 different days?

You can not do anything about it except WAIT.

GOOD LUCK !......

HERE IS MY TIMELINE :

I-130 mailed 01/13/09

We had the same thing happen. See our Timeline below. Two different mailings. Two different biometric letters with different dates. You can try calling the 800# again. Not everyone there is useless. Sometimes you actually get someone who can help or give you some good information. Sometimes, I have called three times in a row to get an answer. It is very frustrating, I know, but remember that a lot of the USCIS employees are contracted. At least I believe they are. Good luck.

My wife and son did not receive all their appointent letters at the same time, they were usually separated by 1-3 days, same with the green cards. Is this the college age son? Under 14 does not need biometrics, all the same our Pasha, age 13 at the time, got a biometrics appointment because his 14th birthday was "around the corner" and they said he would have to return after reaching age 14...so why not? OMG they were thinking logically. I bet it hurt. The other option is just to have him come to the interview and say "hey, what about him?" Alla and Pasha actually got appointments for biometrics AND interviews one day apart, each time we brought Pasha along and said "Hey, what about him?" and they did both in one day each time. I wonder what they did the other days? (hehehe, it IS the VSC you know, just kidding) After we got our AOS interview dates, we received the biometric appointment for the EAD for Alla. I called as was told to disregard. We had the AOS appointment, got the green card approved and two days later the EAD arrived. It all seemed to be a bit mixed up. At any rate, we had the green card in hand and all the rest is a moot point.

But we did have a "letter" for him. I am not sure it is needed as they do not keep the letters, they DO stamp the biometrics letter though. There should be a number to call on that letter, have you tried that?

VERMONT! I Reject Your Reality...and Substitute My Own!
