Ok, hmm how to ask this.

During the medical how "violated" are we? Do us males only have to cough, or is it the full bend and probe?

Not that it matters, i'll do whatever they ask..just trying to be prepared, incase a DR walks into the room with latex gloves on, don't want to look to shocked.

Your paying big bucks, so the more they do, the better it is for you! I had mine in Halifax (which they no longer do),and it was a complete physical, except for the prostate check. Dr doan was pretty complete in his assessment. I dont consider a physical assessment a violation, lol if it is, something is deeply wrong. lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yeah but you are Nurse guy - so I think you have a different view

For my Husband's immigration physical - which was last year (in Calgary - they don't do them there anymore) - they basically just looked - it was a - oh you are male - kind of thing rather than a - well you get the picture.

So basically you should not experience this:

I'm a woman so I don't know exactly what your experience will be, but for mine there was no internal exam. All the Dr. did was take a quick hands-free check "down there"- less than 5 seconds.

I went last fall to Toronto and all they did was a very quick check under the hood to make sure I was really a male.

Except for checking around your neck and pressing on your belly area that is about all the touching there was.

Good Luck

personally i would rather have a complete physical and find out something is wrong in canada, than find out in the USA, especially if you do not have very good insurance coverage in the USA.

Frankly I wish I'd gotten my money's worth - for what I paid and the quick check which actually took place...I felt ripped off :(

Ok - I didn't really want a full (ahem) thorough exam anymore then anyone else...but you know what I mean. I have my girlie bits checked out regularly so the random panel physician doing it wasn't going to help anything

Yep same here. I did have to remove my bra though the doctor could feel me up a bit. ;)

Well the Dr not checking, doesn't that concern you at all? One pays $$ for a physical, and then he does nothing! I guess many just think its one less hurdle to deal with, but here is Dr. that is suppose to be looking out for your health, and it just seems it is one big $$$ grab! Oh well, lol back to my studies, Neuro exam tomorrow.

Who are we kidding, the immigration Dr, is not doing anything more than following a procedure and ensuring we don't have some contagious disease. He doesn't care about our health! He cares about what the United States government wants him to check for and that we are healthy enough to move. We don't pay for an actual check-up, we pay for the procedure!

They did tell me I had a slight heart murmur and to get it checked out. So I suppose I didn't completely lose out on the money, haha.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Yep, same here. I'm not a very shy person but dang, that part was kinda awkward. I'm not going to lie... the female doctor checking me out looked like a swimsuit model, MY GAWD! HA, she was tall and gorgeous and blond and super nice... my first thought was "oh no, I can' get naked in front of her... bring the fat man doctor back!!"
