Drivers license woes

I passed my written test the first time, but am having trouble passing my practical driving test. :crying: Really hate driving here in Texas with all those big trucks practically driving right behind you!

Now my instruction permit is about to expire in two days and I still haven't passed my driving test. Just venting.. I think I've been a city girl for too long in Makati where the bus and jeep was always accessible and over here you can't get anywhere unless you can drive!

I don't suppose anybody here has taken their practical driving test more than 3x?

Just don't think about the big trucks as big trucks... don't be scared... I went to Texas last week, and hated the traffic, my luck was that I made my hubby drive the whole time. Just don't think about the trucks being bigger then your car and forget about the tests where you haven't passed. Good luck for the next one!

In MN you can extend you learner's permit if you are not ready to pass the road test... not sure what Tx does but it might be worth checking so you do not feel undo pressure to get it all done in 3 days

YMMV

Can't you go to a smaller town to do the test? I've heard of people doing that if they're in metropolitan areas and not used to all the traffic and congestion.

I live in NY, so the rules here are a little different. But when you don't pass a driver's test within the first three tries here, you can not take the driving test for another 6 months and you are required to attend the 5-hour course all over again. This doesn't mean you can't drive, it just means no license for a while. Don't be nervous. If you're not ready, you're not ready. Keep practicing. I live out in the goonies here, the nearest gas station is 7 miles away and the nearest store is 10 miles, so I know what you mean when you say you drive everywhere. But no worries. I failed my first two driving tests and passed my third one. Just relax, breathe, and you'll be fine. Those trucks are just another vehicle on the road. They have to abide by the laws just like the rest of us :-)

You can do it. Practice makes perfect ;) Just relax. I passed my driving test the first time, though I have to adjust for the road signs here in the USA since you know how we are different in the Philippines :D

Just keep on practicing. My cousin in Las Vegas told me that she failed her practical driving test more than 3x but she never gave up; some of her friends were in the same boat too. She got her DL after several tries (can't remember if its 5 or 6 times) and now enjoying driving across states.

I haven't got my DL yet (still Instruction Permit) since I got pregnant right away when I came here

and my husband will not allow me to drive while carrying the baby  .

We will be driving to Okalohama and Las Vegas this summer; hopefully I will get my DL then. My cousin said she passed the driving test by doing away with the "thought of being scared" and practicing a lot.

Never ever say never

Yes the biggest problem I have is I just get so scared of making mistakes once I am on the road. Did not pass my drivers test second time around :( forgot to turn off my turn signal. Oh well...as they say, try, try again...
