Help. I need to get tax transcripts and W-2's I think I read on here recently that someone had a place to get them other than the IRS. I think it was acudocuments.com or docuverify or something like that. Can anyone tell me the easiest, quickest way to get past copies of the income tax and the W-2's. Thanks everyone.

Why not the ones from the IRS if you don't mind me asking?

They're free.

Those pay sites are a rip off.

Free from the government. Unless you want state information, they will tell you the state number to call where you will request them. There is a 39$ charge per copy for state w2 and tax forms, federal ones are free.

Ya I got mine from the IRS and just faxed the form to them. YOu can get the form from their website and I had it mailed to me within 1 week. But you might go ahead and get 3 years of the transcripts to have for later or just in case. So you don't have to wait again.

You can do it two ways:

1. Call 1-800-829-1040 and speak with a person LIVE. He/she will mail you the transcripts. It is better to have the past 3 years handy. Those can be faxed to you right away, if you are in front of a fax machine while on the phone with the IRS personnel so that it can be verified when you receive the fax.

2. You can order the transcripts using the automated system. The transcripts will be sent to the address that the IRS has in its system.

The steps are:

1-800-829-1040 => 2 => 2 => SSN => 1 => 1 => 4 => Address => 4 => Year => 1 => 1 => 2 => Year

Thanks so much for all the help. Will the W-2's be included. I need the W-2's as well. If they are not included, does anyone know where to get the W-2's?

One always needs W-2 during tax filing. If you don't have your W-2 copies, you can ask your employer (Human Resources) to make copies for you.

Please read Phirephly's tax shorcut also. He has another short cut as well to get tax transcripts.

Thanks so much for the information. I will check it out. I just got a pm that told me that if I ask the IRS for the W-2 that they will send them to me. So I am going to try that as well.
