I never could get into the Bond movies... I figured I would give them another chance with Casino Royale because people were saying it was different then the others but nope same boring old junk ..lol

not even going to bother watching the newest one :P

I think they're like Star Wars - most of the appeal is in the nostalgia from having grown up with them. If you're coming to them now - they're hard to get into.

My wife likes the Daniel Craig Bonds, but nods off whenever we try to watch one of the old ones. About the only she liked was The Man With the Golden Gun (which is one of the worst - according to fan polls).

I have seen bits and pieces of the older ones when I was younger and I tried to watch the ones with Pierce Brosnan because I always thought he would be the perfect Bond but nope couldn't get into them...

Brosnan's movies dated the worst out of any of the previous Bonds - the producers tried and failed to make James Bond relevant to the modern world.

Seem to have gotten it right (more or less) in the newest ones.

"MAGNOLIA". To this day it's the worst movie I have ever seen and the only reason we went to go see it was because of the great reviews it got. We counted 9 couples that left after about an hour of torture. Horrible, horrible movie!

Another one which got rave reviews (in Canada at least, due to it being a Canuck film--I suspect) including "better film that Witness", produced the same year) was 1984/1985's Blood Simple; catastrophically lousy on every criterion, including plot (??).

My local library has a good volume of DVD's (vhs too) so I am watching a lot of stuff that was before-my-time, some in Black and white, Like Brando in "On the waterfront".

Some are duds but some are very good.

yeah the movies were pretty bad but I still think he made a good Bond... to me he is what Bond should be like...

He was good - but it took me a while to warm up to him.

Daniel Craig is in a whole other league though - he got totally panned before the first movie had even come out, and then when Casino Royale released it seemed like he was the only person ever to play the role.

I still like the originals a lot - but I think they were past due for a reinvention of the concept as the basic formula had devolved into self-parody. Bond had jumped the shark years before - but that invisible car in Die Another Day really did take it too far.

For me it's The English Patient. I really tried to like it since it was an Oscar winning movie and all but I couldn't help but sleep through it the first time, the second time I saw it I was so bored I had to fast forward some bits in order to finish it.

OMG blasphemy!!! LOL.

That is my all-time favorite movie. The quote in my siggie is from that movie. I loved it!

"We are the real countries,

Not the boundaries drawn on maps,

With the names of powerful men.

That's all I've wanted -

To walk in such a place with you,

On an earth without maps."

One I am still trying to understand.... Mullholland Drive. ####### was it about? If anyone knows, please email me

It wasn't as weird as Lost Highway or Videodrome.

Oh man!!!! Videodrome still haunts me

Its creepy as hell - and the prosthetic effects are really nasty.

BTW - if you've not seen it you should watch Shivers (albeit with a strong stomach).

Weirdest film we saw recently was Bug - with Ashley Judd. That's a real ####### movie - 2 people in a motel room turning increasingly paranoid and crazy. It also has the line:

"I am the supreme mother bug"

saw it..and it was strange.....

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

LOL I tried! And hey, I'm not the only one, somebody else in this thread also said English Patient as their choice. Movies are just THAT much personal.
