Our process lasted a year and we didn't do DCF. Really no such thing as a short cut when it comes to Cairo.

Oh and take this advice...don't listen to ppl who know someone who knows someone whose cousin went through immigration.

Altho we would love to give you a timeline it unfortunately doesn't work like that. There are no fast or furious answers to applying in Egypt or in the states!

If you want to live in Egypt then I suggest going for the DCF. Our process lasted a year and we did a DCF.

This process is neither easy nor fast.

Good luck!

Depends on your service center in the US. California or Vermont?

no service center yet

The service center is determined by your state of residence in the USA. Please read the guides.

Thanks to you both for trying to help, but service center location wasn't my question.

Are you looking for a time fairy to appear and give you an exact time? Everyone is different. Lots of us spent 7, 8 and 9 months waiting for the petitions to be approved. It depends on the service center and how many others have filed and whether or not you get caught up in a background check PLUS MANY other things. It is never cut and dry. If you want exact answers you need to look in to your crystal ball. We are all here to support each other. When you get replies, it is because people want to help. They offer information they think you might find helpful. No need to bash them for not giving you the exact answer you want to hear. There is no time frame for anything when you are dealing with immigration

Also, if you interviewed for a spousal or fiancé visa in Casa in March of 2008, that may or may not slow you down in Cairo this year. Just one more factor to throw into the mix when you're estimating the time. Good luck.

Well, sorry... it's all insanely frustrating... sorry I asked in the first place. Also sorry that I offended you and thanks again for trying to help.

It is beyond frustrating for a lot of us who have gone and are going through Cairo. There really is no

" fast " way, as Cairo has a reputation of moving at a snails pace and being very unpredictable. Whatever you decide, just be prepared as you may do some wait time.....unless you are one of the few who sails through without a hitch. BTW, you have gotten some good advice in this thread.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

What do u think i am doing? I told u I asked a simple question. I thought the people here would have some kind of experience an answer, or opinion. If you don't you didn't need to post.

Well since you put it so nicely I'm sure everyone will try to help you now. :) Maybe you can make yourself some gahwa and when your cup is almost empty, you can flip it over. Then you wait a few minutes and then you can ask someone to read it for you. Then you can see the answer!

It's very simple, it will take you 6 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, 12 hours, and 17 minutes.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Now - for homework - I would highly suggest looking at the fun that is AP. If you think this is frustrating...oh, and going thru Egypt - I'm betting on AP.

Excellent post Milo - furthermore, Dreamscometrue, with a fiance or spouse in Egypt, you're not only looking at AP, but possibly Administrative Review aka AR, which is a whole other nightmare where the DOS does family interviews, questions neighbors, etc - not a pretty sight.

You're in for a very rude awakening if you think there is a fast route with all of this. The USEM in Cairo is probably one of the top 5 highest fraud embassies in the world - right up there with Lagos, Manila, Changdou, and Casablanca. If you have ANY red flags, and I mean ANY, you will be facing an uphill battle in bringing your spouse to the US. Remember, this is a privilege not a right...the USCIS/DOS do not owe you anything other than a timely review of your application, but this operates on their timeframe not yours.

Best of luck, you're going to need it.

If he had an interview, then you must have filed something. Not much to inform if you won't give any infornation.

Ooooooh then that's a big red flag right there - you're wanting to apply for two fiance visas within 1-2 years of eachother - they'll wonder how commited you are to your relationship...fall out of one and into another. Just some thoughts and ruminations.

Tell me, did you live in Egypt a year and then move to USA? Or what?
