Hi all

We live in the middle of nowhere and post takes days to arrive if at all. By the time we received our biometrics appointment, the date had passed as the letter was mailed 9 days before the appointmetn and then there was a holiday and weekend...! We immediately wrote to them explaining the situation, telling them we hadn't abandoned the application and asked for a new time and overnighted it on the 8th June but we have heard nothing since. We asked them to email or telephone. Has anyone else missed their appointment? Is there anything else we can do? My mailman is tired of being mugged for the post every morning...

I would take everything (the appointment notice, and the letter you overnighted to them) and just show up at the fingerprint place and do a walk-in. Biometrics are done by a contracted company and is at a separate facility from USCIS offices. The one we went to (in San Francisco) was very casual. It's not chaotic and full of people like the USCIS office.

Check and read your appointment notice...you can go anytime on any following Wednesday, same time reflected on your notice, as long as your appointment notice is still valid within 3 months from notice date. That's what I did, and I was fine. Requesting another date from them would take you a few more months of waiting again.

Hope that helps.
