k-1 marriage - how to

hey all,

we are almost ready to get a plane ticket and all wih a k-1 visa.

we were wondering if any of you know the procedure of getting married in MA or RI?

i couldent find any info on what we need when one party is not a resident yet what docs we need and other info.

any answers welcome!

in MA, marriage licenses are issued by the county or local community governments... check those resources

Call whatever office issues marriage license and ask someone. We were married in Louisiana, and there wasn't information related to K1 type issues (not a US resident, not SS# etc.) on the website. When I called the lady I spoke to said that we could use his passport as ID, that we could waive the requirement for a SS# and the 72hr wait by going before the judge. The judge was in the same building, it didn't take more than 10 minutes to get the judge to approve us (most of that was trying to find his office!) and it didn't cost anything. All else fails go down to the office and ask in person.

niether of us was ever married - how ever - do we need any kind of document to prove that???

if we do we must get it and translate at the country of origin of my fiance...
