Hi everyone:

I have been living in Ohio with my husband and his mom for 5 years until last summer i moved to New York for college. Now, for application, should I write the address for Ohio or NY?

The bad thing is.... I already put my Ohio address on my medical exam form, and on my tax form, it is for NY.....

Please help out!

Thank you everyone!

Sue

This one is tricky. I assume your applying for your AOS?

If so, I'd do a bit of research before applying. One problem is - the address you use is the one you will have to stick with until you receive your green card. If everything goes well and smoothly, then you should be set in a few months! IF problems exist - it could be up to a year or more that you'd have to stick to your address that you labeled. Yes, you can change your address with INS, but many times it has failed (even though it has been approved and noted).

Another issue is - Jouristiction. The person interviewing can only interview folks that actually live in "said" location. Otherwise your just wasting your time and extending the time to get your green card. So, if you applied and interviewed in NY, and your hubby comes out to interview, you may be denied on your interview date (once they find out he does not live in NY) and you will have to wait while everything gets exported and sent out to Ohio and restarted.

Hope that helps!

I am not an expert but I think there must be a way to accommodate/fix this. There must be a way by which a couple living in two different states could interview at ONE office. They can't deny AOS just because they live in different Jurisdictions.. doesn't sound reasonable.

Wait for more suggestions from the members and then call USCIS to discuss the issue.

AOS from H1B

I would definitely put the address where you are going to spend most of the year... if you are staying in NY for most of this year you should use NY address and file in NY with the INS there. Do not use OH as you are going to be transferred later and that will take time

I WILL SAY IT LIKE IT IS, DO NOT TAKE MY COMMENTS PERSONALLY

Thanks everyone! I will be studying my current degree in NY for the next 2-3 years, and my husband will come here and live with me starting this August. When we got married last month, the city hall asked my to put my NY address because they said it was my residency. But, I already put my Ohio address on the Medical exam paper.....and it was sealed now.... Is It OK?? Or I need to make another appointment and let the doctor resign it? Than you so much everyone!!!
