Not living at mailing address- AOS Interview in 1 week. Should we try to change address with USCIS so soon before interview?

We used my wife's (USC) parents address on our I-130 because we were'nt sure how long we were going to stay at our temporary sublet and because the mail is not secure here.

Although we didnt reside there our lawyer said it would be safer to use parent's address on the forms (although he probably didnt mean the G-325A  ) and change address with USCIS when we got a new place.

We were planning to get a more permanent address when i got EAD, SS# (and hopeully a job). However the interview date came very quickly ...i havent got my EAD and we are still at the temporary sublet.

Talked to the lawyer and he thinks its not wise to change our address with USCIS since the EAD should be arriving "any day now" and to get notarized letters from parents explaining the mail situation and same from the guy we are subletting off outlining our ongoing agreement.

Has anyone gone into an interview in a similar situation? or any advice on this?

Thanks in advance

You are required by law to notify USCIS of any and all address changes. If your mail is unsecure where you are, you can use a separate mailing address, but you still should be notifying them of your physical address. AR-11 form for the immigrant spouse (must be sent within 10 days of the move) and I-865 for the sponsor spouse (must be sent within 30 days of the move).

There are potential penalties for not notifying them of your move, and I'm surprised a lawyer would tell you don't bother.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

I wouldn't change it at the USCIS if I were you.. the people who you will speak to will most likely not be able to change the address in the file as the file will already be at your local office.

I remember the immigration officer asking me if the address they had on file was also the address to send the greencard to. I am sure that if you explain it all to him/her, that they will have no problem and just change the address for you right away.

The things your lawyer says do make sense to me also :)
