Just to update everyone, Sam got his voter's list thingie today and didn't have to bribe them amazing! He did have to go back 3 times before they had it for him though. He also got it translated. Also, just to warn some people as it wasn't obvious to us, that you need to submit original letters and cards with envelopes (if you have them) not photo copies. They promise to return them later. We should be ready to submit our additional evidence on Monday or Tuesday at the latest. yay.

Just to add that I got my voter's list for year 2004 & 2005. Got 2 separate sheets. I cast my vote only in those years.

But embassy asked for 5 year voter's list. Don't know what to do with rest of years. Election dept. is not gonna give me list for those in which I didn't cast my vote or when there were no voting sessions.

So i'm gonna call embassy and tell them my situation.

p.s :- I think it doesn't matter much to embassy. But dunno. Besides it can take upto more than 1 or 3 months to get that list. And now elections are coming again in May. So election dept. is not going to entertain me again.

Congrats on getting those - you got as much as you can. If you didn't vote, how can you get for more years? Hopefully what you did get will satisfy them. Our prayers are with you for a FAST approval!!

Karri and Sam... Hope everything went smoothly today. Any news? I'm thinking of you both and hope for the best!

Sam, I was wondering if you were ever able to speak with anyone at the embassy about the voter list.

My fiance and I are trying to get these common 221 documents ahead of time, but are having difficulty with the voter list. Any tips or ideas? My fiance lives in New Delhi.

Thank you!!!

I'll let Sam jump in to explain his experience today at VFS, basically they refused part of our evidence because we had too much lol. I don't care how much we have as long as we get approved! It's stupid how this time they accepted stuff we wanted to submit last time but they wouldn't allow us then! Anyways should get an answer in 7-10 days, and btw, the lady basically unofficially confirmed that there is a quota - they are only allowed to grant so many visas at a given time, sucks.

What is a voter's list?

It's a piece of paper that proves that you voted in a particular year. Yes, NOTHING to do with our relationship but they still asked for it! Very hard to get in some areas.

:o Wow a quota, that is interesting! Never heard of that before. That is totally UNFAIR, by the way.

What did they refuse at the VFS office? Was it parts of proof (like accepting some but not all photos) or whole chunks (like taking all the photos but refusing all emails)?

Waiting with prayers and crossed fingers for the approved visa! :luv:

I'm sure every embassy has something they just don't talk about it much. They refused part of the evidence We bombarded them remember? lol. We had 300 emails , they only took 60 from each side - 120 in total I think, We had 276 pics, they only took about 80 something because some where in similiar places or poses. At some point they asked if we had anything else to submit, apparantly you can submit more than what's on the 221g! I didn't know that. Sam ran home and grabbed a few things, this time they took the letter from my parents and the cute engagement album we made on shutterfly. Oh and they like to have the letters and cards sorted by type, we had them combined so the lady took care of that for us there. They also took my wedding dress receipt, engagement rings receipt, all things we tried to submit last time but were refused, ugh!

Sam will have to fill in the gaps, I can't remember the rest. Should I call DOS in a few days to get an update?

I hope that 80 pics are enough for the consular officer to reconsider his decision. We tried to submit 276 pics in total. But the lady at VFS refused to accept pics in same location and pose and I was like what the heck. We weren't photo shooting and we didn't know that we'll use those pics later. They should just accept all the evidence.

I'll write about my complete experience sometime later. Right I'm so frustrated 'coz of this 221g. :(

Well she pissed me off by doing that. Then I begged her to atleast let me submit more than 36 pics since the consular officer specifically wanted to see more pics.

Is 80 pics sufficient?

Oh yeah we also submitted our engagement album and it contains 46 pics. Some pics are repeat but what can we do.

I didn't submit phone logs this time. We submitted them last time but they returned it during interview. They have got a copy in our petition. It was only an additional proof of an ongoing relationship.

But we submitted like 30 letters/cards and 60 emails from Karri and 60 emails from me i.e. 120 emails in total. And according to me that a big proof of an ongoing relationship.
