Help with I-130 Petition!

Timeline

I am new to this and i have seen some timelines that show that their petition has been touched or looked at. How do they know that? this is problably a dumb question but like i said i am new and learing the process.

Hi Anthony-Kristy!

Once you've signed up on the uscis.gov website, you'll be able to check your case status. Look up under the column that says "Last Updated" and there will be a date under there. If that date changes, that means you have been "touched". You can also sign up for e-mail alerts which will (or should--because they don't always send out the alerts to e-mail) let you know when there is an update or "touch" on your case. Good luck to you!
