Wasn't my question was it? :P

i'm just trying to figure out why so many think an ar-15 is an assault weapon, which steven showed earlier (after much foot nailing) in another thread does not meet the definition.

Believe me- I understand what you are trying to say.

We need to be realistic and target weapons used frequently and not so frequently for crime, not hunting squirrels.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

yea because drug cartel people are gonna raid your houses.. as if you were in their interests..

please.. be more real about it.. yea I need a fukcin smg just in case the drug dealers raid my house.. same dumb argument as after 9/11 'we have buildings in our town dem terrorists would like to blow, like our walmart'

so now we've graduated from talking about assault rifles to smg's. neat! what's next, large caliber machine guns?

Who needs an assault rifle?

1) Hunters? - This "sport" is already largely asinine. As an avid hiker I walk up within 50 feet of deer on a regular basis and could easily shoot them with my Glock if I were so inclined and easily amused. With hunting (specifically deer hunting) being akin to shooting cows in a field wouldn't it take the "sport" out of it to use such a weapon?

because everyone who owns a gun has no common sense, right?

guess somebody spends a lot of time in populated areas ... for deer co-mingling with people ... cause these deer apparently are accustomed to people and have no fear of man.

Ask Matt Lauer. Didn't he just get rammed by a deer while on his bike? God knows he could have avoided this insult by splattering its guts all over the road. :star:

near collision. he was traveling too fast doing down hill on his bike ... the deer didn't hear/see him and it stepped out on the road.

note: a few times I've ridden close to deer a that were standing by the road. as long as I wasn't seen/heard it was ok ... until they noticed me or heard the cassette click/gear change/ etc then they got spooked, and ran away (who wouldn't :P )

My experiences with deer have always been pleasant encounters no matter the speed.

At some point though I will want to go on a hunt since I love the gamy taste of venison.

just don't go hunting with the car. ruins the meat and potentially necessitates extensive auto body repairs

The sensical rationale is- can a weapon mow down a roomful/range of people in less time that it takes you to load/fire/reload a single-firing weapon? These are the weapons that need to be controlled.

Any 'ban' IMO needs to be done at the manufacture level. The rest is law enforcement enforcing laws designed to target illegal ownership.

the average .22 squirrel rifle would fall under that.

Like I said... sensible. I haven't seen or heard of many squirrel rifles being used in the commission of violent crime.

squirrel_grnd_shane98_c.jpg

Are AR-15s used by criminals in shootouts? Just curious.

have we settled the ar-15 is not an assault rifle debate yet?

Frequently...there aint smoke without fire!

Trust me these guys were dumb and they were definitely rednecks. It wasn't a stereo type as such, just an observation of a certain demographic partaking in activities they are know to have a penchant for. If I was stereotyping I would have left out the dumb because we all know rednecks are dumb anyway.

the dumbest people i've seen with firearms are city folks, not rednecks.

Wasn't my question was it? :P

but by your definition above, they would fall under it. go reboot and come back.

Still not my question. But along those lines... control allows for possession does it not? Yes- it does.

having trouble following the quotes again? i didn't say it was your question, did i?

But I could go with my laser cannon mount... reduce the potential for spoiling the meat with adrenaline from a suffering, bleeding animal.

Shoot and cook at the same time.

Ah, how cute, we are identifying gun toting idiots by type as apposed to on an individual basis. And there was I thinking you fanatics thought all gun toters were cool, simply because they tote a gun. Mind you, I have an excuse, you do support the most egregious of gun toters when it suits your agenda.

You:

Reply to- "a weapon mow down a roomful/range of people in less time that it takes you to load/fire/reload a single-firing weapon?"

Me:

Referring to- "Like I said... sensible. I haven't seen or heard of many squirrel rifles being used in the commission of violent crime."

You:

Being semantic.

Being contextual.

Move along.

Effective enough when they target the manufacture and marketing from the get-go.

fozzie, you might just have to post the video link since RedNeck is now apparently offensive racial terminology, independent of rednecks being themselves many a times perpetrators of racial attacks against non-whites.

Poor, stereotyped rednecks. Victims.

Unfortunately I think the footage was from 'bowling for comumbine'. You may be able to find it on youtube. Uh-oh not Liberal Michael Moore nonsense.

The term red neck is not a slur. Lets analyze it in depth. Red = the color of passion. Neck = erm well...at least you got the red part.

Yeah I think I remember that clip.

Too bad Danno's racial stereotype sensitivity meter doesn't kick into contextual mode when we have other posters making ridiculously racist remarks.

So basically Charles, you are saying that it is quite impossible to categorize guns into those which are suitable for hunting, and those which are suitable for military combat? They are all interchangeable and no legislation could or perhaps should be formulated which could make sensible distinctions between the two?

Just wondering, you know, for clarity.
