Why do people post a reply and just quote what was said earlier in the post and do not say anything? I have seen this a number of times. Are they just trying to increase their ranking? I do not like scrolling through posts and someone has nothing to add to the question asked. To me, it is very annoying. What do you think? Thanks.

To me, it is very annoying.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I think they are probably errors for the most part.

 @ SMOKE

and yes, it is pretty effing annoying. As annoying as copying an ENTIRE thread and then saying "YES".

That too :)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Yes I'd say they're errors. AI and all, sometimes when I reply with quotes I get an error message due to inaccurate quote counts.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I agree. But my gripe is not so much about quoting without comment but when there is endless quotes. It is generally observed message board etiquette to only quote what you will comment on. For example, if you're quoting somebody that has quoted several others in their post, take a little time to edit the quote by deleting the material that you are not commenting on. It makes is so much easier for the person reading your post to follow the conversation, not to mentioned cutting down on page download times with unnecessary quoting.

That's the point. However, adding additional comments can help the ranking. The point of this is to provide a free flowing topic that transitions like a one-on-one conversation.

I get annoyed when people quote me and then say things afterwards like "I don't agree with you", or "Statistics prove you wrong because", or "try to read the whole O.P before you say something stupid"

Noobs may not be versed on message board etiquette, and may make this mistake. It may take a while for them to figure out that they can edit within the quotes.

Well you would think that would be the case but I have to disagree. By VJ standards, I'm a "noob" but I've been on a bunch of message boards in the past. I've seen some people here with thousands of posts that haven't learned this lesson yet.
