6-month mark (filed K1 Sept 19) so I called USCIS. I bypassed some of the automated system by selecting option 3 (lost receipt number) and a very polite operator answered. She informed me that it would be 4 more days until my 6 month mark...that's 189 days...not really sure how they determine that as 6 months...but glad that we still are on track. While I am happy for those who get approved way ahead of USCIS timelines, it is very discouraging to the rest of us who wait so long. I can't explain why some folks get approved so early and some wait for so long but for me, USCIS has always said 6 months...so we will see. The woman that I spoke to today, said that they were processing Sept 15 applications now. So I will wait. She seemed very helpful, almost concerned. That was nice and somewhat reassuring.

Then why are most Dec-Jan filers being approved today...hmmm.

I've got 3 weeks before our 6 month mark. I have no intention of ever calling USCIS, because I don't think it will do anything other than frustrate me. I've got Senator and Congressman letters ready to mail as soon as the time comes.

Hopefully you'll get approved before "the time comes." :)

To be honest, I think the people at the USCIS call center just pull those dates out of their butts. The first time I called after it had been six months, the lady I talked to acknowledged that I was outside processing times and granted me a service request. It hadn't even been six months since our NOA1, just six months since the "received date" on the NOA1. I called about a month later and the person I talked to told me that I was still within processing times.

I would recommend contacting your Senators and Congressperson.

Best of luck to you!

Prepare for major frustration if you think you will get any tangible help from your politicians. They are a joke. They have a staff trained to placate people that ask for help. They know you are coming. These are the exact same politicians that have not done anything to reform the laws that affect your case right now. The staff will send you a letter saying your case is in line for adjudication just as the others. That will take about a months so send in your letters today.

I went thru all of this myself & learned quickly what a joke it really is. The info they did finaly send to me was out of date, sent to the wrong address. When I called them I found they knew less than I did about the case status. They said NVC was working on it & would finish the case in a few weeks.

In reality it was done & on its way to the embassy.

If you get the help you think you will be sure to let us know exactly how it went because it would be rare. It would help to know exactly what you did & what they did to actually help.
