What to get notarized

What exactly is getting something notarized? Does the persone doing the "notarizing" check into every piced of information to make sure its authentic or what? Do they just notarize the I-134 or do they notarized every piece of evidence with it. I know we can do it at a bank, but I have 2 savings accounts at different banks. Will one bank still notarize all of it?

A notary is used to verify a signature. I don't think they even need to read the document--they just need to verify who you are and watch you sign. Then they sign the document and stamp it(with their special notary stamp).

A piece of evidence can not be notarized--only the signatures. Official documents are often certified.

My bank will only notarize documents they produce, but you can ask.
