HELP HELP HELP!!!!

My daughter phoned the NVC and was told the following.

'Your case is in California at the immigration center, the NVC is in New Hampshire and is not handling the case'.

Now we know that the USCIS sent our I-130 to California. Have I made a mistake in phoning the NVC?

Should my daughter and I be calling elsewhere?

I would appreciate any help please as I am now baffled.

Not wanting to put a damper on your case here... but are you sure you received APPROVAL (NOA2) in 6 days? You will receive a RECEIPT (NOA1) of your I-130 from the USCIS in around 6 days after mailing but not usually an approval that fast. If it is indeed a receipt and not an approval, that would explain why the NVC says your case is not with them. It won't be until after the NOA2/Approval.

I understand completely what you are saying. I asked my daughter about this and she said that the form she recieved said that the Application had been approved.

But she has only received one notification.

Cannot quite understand why it would say approved when it is a receipt?

Anyway your explanation is what I suspected so I shall sit patiently along with everyone else!

Mum recieved here welcome to america notice today it says that her case has been moved to TEXAS and the application is now a OS155A application and they will let her know within 30 day? not even sure what thats all about?

I presumed she would just receiv a green card, but this isn't the case. The letter also states that they received the package mailed from her POE (they received the brown envelope that you have to bring in)

Wow thanks for the update.. My parents were asking what happens after they arrive with things like the Greencard and their SSN so I will be able to pass on that bit of info to them.

They are getting very excited now. Hope your Mom is settling in ok. How long did it take for her to get a SSN?

I was thinking of you Tay and the questions your parents must be asking as my mum is still asking questions!

She still hasn't got her SSN yet I will give it another week and then go down to the office and apply in person, somehow I don't think it will come automatic like stated on the form.

The reciept letter os551 says we will hear in 30 days, presumably that will be the green card.

Also tell your mum and dad when they get the visa and the "brown envelope" they also receive a manual about how things work here like social security etc. ( I never got one of them when I came thru it all!)

Hi Gemma12nel, how are you? I was wondering if you could answer some questions ...

How long did it take for your mom to receive her Welcome to America notice after she arrived in the U.S? And did the notice have her Alien Registration number on it?

Or at the port of entry, did any of the officers write down her Alien Registration # on her passport?

My dad arrived last Saturday on his IR5 visa but we don't know his A#.

What a horrid 4th July, the hotel sold our suite with the view of the Hudson to someone else as the moved the fireworks onto the hudson first time in years they had done this. So they just gave our room which we have every year away!

anyhows to anwser your questions Picaraz, mums A # was on the documentation she gave to the officer (I had already made a note of this) but anyway they didn't write the A# in her passport, they just took her to a room did a fingerprint took the brown envelope then she was free to leave, I asked the officer what happens now he said she will get her GC shortly.

The Welcome to America letter (os155A) arrived 23 days after (inclusive of weekend days). The letter says she will hear something in 30 days. She still hasn't received her SSN I will take her for that (thats the easy bit)
