Just a quick update...

Both my parents got their Greencards in the mail yesterday. Pleased to say they had no errors on them. They also got their SSN so thay are all done with immigration until its time to apply for citizenship...

I also wanted to say thank you - you've been very kind and helpful to come back and answer all kinds of questions even after the whole process completed. Your experiences not only give us guidelines, but also help us improve our timeline and avoid unnecessary delays. We really appreciate it!

Just a quick update...

Both my parents got their Greencards in the mail yesterday. Pleased to say they had no errors on them. They also got their SSN so thay are all done with immigration until its time to apply for citizenship...

Ouch Luckyyy. Sad to see that you got an RFE. I hope it does not slow you down too much.

We have yet to hear anything regarding our DS230 so we hope that no news is good news.

Thanks, Richard. I called NVC and spoke to an operator after we sent in the petitioner's birth certificate (can't believe that i missed that!). I was told that we got everything else covered. I have a feeling that one of us (you, ptrober or me) will get case completed at NVC within the week or next week at the latest. Keep our fingers crossed!

As I posted earlier my Mum had her interview on the 14th and was approved.

I have a couple of questions to those who have already travelled over after being approved.

1 - At POE, can my Mum go through the USC/LPR line at the Immigration check point or does she still have to go through the Non US line?

2 - Will my Mum still have to fill in form I-94?

Congrats on the approval.

My parents went to the non-USC line but the officer saw them with their brown envelopes and came over to them and took then to the USC/LPR line. From what I have seen over theyears here on VJ each POE has their own rules for new immigrants at POE. Tell your mom to ask the officer that is in the immigration area which line she should go in.

You mom will not need to complete a I-94 she will only need the customs form.

Just called the NVC automated service and they have found items missing from our DS230 package. Obviously too early to call and the RFE has not yet arrived.

We are absolutely baffled. We purchased authorised copies of everything and also sent in originals. We checked and double checked, made cover sheets and checked every item over and over again.

I just cannot understand what is missing.

Richard I am sorry to hear you are being told that there are missing documents. Did you include copies of your Daughters birth certificate, marriage certificate and any divorce papers?

The other reason is that they may not have entered the DS230 info into the system yet wich would give a RFE message on the AVR.

Let us know what you find out today if you can.

I spoke with the NVC and they told me I need a German Police check despite being told twice by the US Embassy in London that it was covered by my RAF record of service.

I have just printed off the documents and have now to take these to the local Police Station for Authorisation. Then a DHL package to Germany.

Add to that stress we now have the threat of UK Postal Strikes.
