Good morning everyone!

I have a question regarding translation of documents for parents: their birth ceritificate, police certificate, etc. Translation is listed as a requirement specific to US Embassy in Moscow.

My question is: can a petitioner translate those documents into English and then sign his/her name or relatives are not allowed to be a translator in this case?? Any suggestions? I am especially interested in hearing from Russian folks who dealt with Moscow's Embassy rules.

Hi, I'm in the beginning of the process, but from what I've heard, consular officers in Moscow Embassy often make faces :angry: if they see that translator was a relative. Of course, the process of immigration is an expensive one, but I would not risk to make savings like that. My mom is pensioner, but still she is going to go to translation bureau to make translations and confirm that translator is fluent in both Russian and English. It all depends. But if the IO that would interview your parents is not in the mood, he can ask them to make translations at some independent place because you are obviously an interested party. Finally, it might result is interview rescheduling.

My daughter contacted the NVC very early this morning and registered all our email addresses. I have the DS3032 ready to go!!! My daughter is sat with card in hand to pay the fees and the AOS ready to send.

Can you amend your chart with our dates? I tried but I suddenly became inept. Must be the excitement!

I received yesterday the NOA2 hard copy and it confirms that the case has been sent to NVC. So how early can I call the NVC and what's the number again? Still waiting for my mom's approval..

The number is 1-603-334-0700 You will need the reciept number from the NOA1 or 2. To speak to a officer press 1 then 5. I called everyday from when I got the NOA2.

Further to my message about my daughter giving our email details to the NVC. She felt uneasy about this and called back to check.

She found out that the first lady had not bothered to enter the email details!

She made sure this time that they were definitely added.

Be aware and double check everything!

I called every day too: NVC automated system said that I-864 and the fee bill was sent out last Friday. :)

BTW, how long does it take for the NVC package to reach us in the mail?
